Even worse, before that test, there is only 1 other test before high school that actually counts. The is the Jr. high entrance exam... but that one only counts to which school they go to, as far as I can understand it.
There IS no PASS/FAIL otherwise.. they can even be absent from school for 95% of the school year, yet still come back and graduate their grade level with their class.
(THAT is screwed up :/)
A lot of them call themselves journalists or bloggers like the one whose writings were posted on FR recently claiming to remember the impeachment of Richard Nixon, a historical event which never actually occurred because Richard Milhous Nixon, a man I do not praise, at least had the ability to feel shamed and so resigned before he could be impeached. Some of the same people claim that William Jefferson Clinton was not impeached even though he certainly was.
As some wise person once observed it is not the things you don’t know that make you stupid, (that is more properly called ignorance) it is all the things you know that are not so.
The hardest thing I find when teaching bible studies is getting people to UNLEARN the stuff they THINK is in the bible!
We all make errors, I spend amazing amounts of time reading and rereading before I post a comment and often correct many errors I discover by proofreading my own writing. I don’t mean to sound critical of young people so much as I am disgusted with the failure of the current education system, I see it as having been taken over by enemies of this country with Bill Ayers a prime example of what I mean.
The dollar bill you have in your wallet is worth in reality maybe a nickel, probably less, in comparison to its worth in the year of my birth which was 1944, the official inflation adjustment figures are only fantasy. The university diploma of today seems to have been devalued in a similar manner. In those days a four year degree was a ticket to the executive suite, today it is a ticket to the kind of job that would have been done in those days by an eighth grade dropout. It has recently been reported that today’s degree is not even worth nearly as much as a high school diploma was worth in the job market in the mid sixties even. My high school teachers used to tell us that we would see a day when you would need a high school diploma to sweep the floor, apparently that day has arrived but not because so much education is needed compared to those days but rather because so LITTLE education is being offered in today’s schools.
