Here's the thing. You can have it one way on "rate shock," but you can't have it both ways.
There are, broadly, two ways that individual market health insurance could work. One is the situation we have now in most states, where it works more or less like homeowners' insurance: The insurer evaluates how many claims you're likely to make and sets your premium at expected claims plus a profit margin. If you have diabetes, you'll pay more, just like you'd pay more for homeowner's insurance if you lived on the beach.
Rosner is seeing a mild form of that problem. She's pricing out a policy that would start in 2013, meaning it's not subject to ACA rate-setting rules. The insurer thinks her prior Caesarian section makes her likely to make somewhat more claims so it's adding 20 percent to her premium. Rosner thinks that's messed up, and a lot of people agree....

Funny that even Slate isn’t buying the claim that current insurers cancel everyone’s policies when they get sick. And yet... that was one of the primary “reasons” for Obiecare.
The lies go back all the way to the rationale for the legislation. In many ways it was a bill to fix a Democrat talking point, not a real problem.

I have a feeling that in the very near future, the docs that refuse to work with obamanation will be denied any hospital “privileges” which will put them out of business if they do not comply with the presidents “mandates”.
Hospitals would do that at their own peril, as their relationship is symbiotic.
If the hospitals do that, it will be because the Obamareich FORCED them to.

I don’t think so. Bamys plan is to have a single payer system in which all docs will ultimately work for the government. One of the easiest ways to do this will be to prohibit docs from having privileges at hospitals unless they are willing to accept government payments.
In the US, with the rise of satellite and specialty outpatient services, many (most?) Doctors can often forgo the need to associate with hospitals at all. Several Doctors friends of ours don't practice in hospitals (primary care, allergists, pediatricians), and others are there infrequently (OB-GYN on call).
However, I can't underestimate the power of a coercive government.
At our Ambulatory Surgery Center where the docs buy into partnerships, one of the requiremants is that they must have admitting privileges at one of the local hospitals. Perhaps I was basing my perceptions on that experience.

Do not forget, this $ 1,080,000 must cover Office Rent, salaries for office personnel, nurses and the doctor’s income. Than there are ancillary costs for running an office - Electricity, water, any specialized equipment, etc.
This is a small business that does not have to incur the costs of dealing with the current insurance (Pre-Obycare) issues.
If you trust your Doctor you will no longer get double billed or receive bills a year or later after service, as is common practice today.
I;m glad you used the word “slavishly”, since the 99% who hated the Communists were indeed slaves under it. Just because 1% of the population is leftist and brought Communists to power doesn’t imply anything at all about the attitudes of the enslaved majority.
What will happen to the insurance pools when people wise up and either move or at least get a new official residence at a PO box in another county? Will Obamacare need an army of spies like some suburban school districts use to make sure that parents aren't using fake addresses to get the kids out of their assigned city school?
It is bad when your banking customer has better paper work tracking skills than you do.
If he worked for Wells Fargo I can only guess how bad he is at anything.
Did I mention to never never deal with Wells Fargo and their employees.

(Receptionist) It is not really a Right in the Constitution, but ObamaFlowers is Constitutional because the Supreme Court Ruled it a “Tax”. Taxes are Constitutional. But we feel it is a Right.

To be clear, Obama is forcing the insurance companies to cover everyone for everything. Which is the opposite of insurance, it's welfare. The blind will be paying for eye care, amputees will be paying for varicose vein care, sterile people buying birth control.
The socialist dream is welfare for everyone, and here it is!
