They’re two of the most powerful African-American politicians in the land. And by most accounts, President Obama and Rep. Charles Rangel hate each other.
The most recently revealed salvo in their war of words — Obama’s assertion that Rangel is a “hack,” according to the political tome “Double Down” — is just one element of a long-dysfunctional relationship.
Rangel supported Hillary Clinton in the 2008 Democratic primary, but the seeds of mutual disdain were planted before that, according to Democratic insiders and staffers for both pols.

Rangel also served on the front lines in Korea and was wounded in combat. How many LimpRichards in both parties have I seen that would never get near military service unless they were ordered to (and then would find a way to weasel out of combat).

That Rangel is even taken seriously, let alone thought of as a “black leader” is testament to how vacuous our society is today.

Rangel is, like his predecessor Adam Clayton Powell(s), a political whore who will support communist causes in the normal course of affairs, will beat the anti-white racist drum to get support, and who lives like a fat pig while his constituents get scrapes.
He’s New York City’s answer to DC’s Marion Barry, Chicago’s jailed Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr/III whatever, Michigan’s jailed governor (Patterson?), etc.
I guess “fat, drunk and corrupt” is the way to go through life.

On the now defunct Quinn and Rose in the Morning show, there used to be a guy that called around a lot of the holidays and always before Christmas time and sounded exactly like Charlie Rangel. You would swear it was Rangel. Anyways, Quinn would always address him as if he was talking to Congressman Rangel and the “Rangel” caller would always end with a poem that would bring you to tears in laughter. We’ll all miss it this year and be poorer for it. Maybe “Charlie” can call Rush Limbaugh or someone to recite his annual Charlie Christmas poem.
