The thing about military care is that it exists against a backdrop of free-market care. Comparisons are made. A standard exists.

Obamacare is about destroying the standard against which healthcare can be compared.

The Marxist model is that the capitalist backdrop must be destroyed as a comparison...because it must die if Marxism can live.

Except for the elite, the people must suffer so that the least of us can get minimal coverage. Except for the elite, the people (call them the middle class) must slide down the economic ladder so that the least of us can see their income rise.

The Marxist modelers are happy when regular folks are poor...because the poor can now say they are on a par with the middle class.

Hurray for the elites. They have made the poor equal to the middle class.

“The thing about military care is that it exists against a backdrop of free-market care. Comparisons are made. A standard exists.”
Not quite correct.

There exists several levels of “military care”, all within the supposed single payer system...of government health care.
IE:If you have a certain level of rank or status, you are seen by the medical team at the Flight Surgeon level of care. That's the highest quality of government healthcare.
If you are merely active duty, and not ranked as mission essential, you are seen by the general medical team.
Not bad quality, but not the best either. Competent.
If you are retired or a veteran, you are seen by the VA level team. It's real medical care, and there are pockets of dedicated and knowledgeable staff, but the overall quality can only be described on average as low.
So everyone truly does get quality healthcare!
High, medium or low.
But it's all “free”, so who complains?
Nobody much, it seems.
Because while one can't sue the low level caregivers, one can make a big enough public or private threat to be promoted into a higher level of care.

Those medal level insurance plans came from somewhere....

And the civilian Democrat feds really were stupid enough to try to apply that “tiered system”, endured by all healthy military volunteers, to the general population of the USA.

In a just world, Colin Powell would be seen only by his local VA doctors, and if he wanted civilian doctors, he would have to pay cash for that, out of separate non-government (taxpayer paid) retirement income.
