Tskhinvali is recognized as part of Georgia by all countries apart from Russia and a couple of its close allies. The Russian “peacekeepers” were based in Georgia.

Georgia never attacked Russia. Genocidal Nazi Russia attacked Georgia in support of ethnic separatists and helped those separatists ethnically cleanse thousands of innocent Georgian civilians.
