Congress must take action now on immigration reform

Inaction is no longer an option. Washington needs to begin making progress on issues important to our nation. Inaction is costing families, communities, businesses and local governments; our national economy and progress are harmed when Congress delays tough decisions.

State and local government are where the rubber meets the road; this is where policy is implemented and services are provided to residents.

California is becoming a majority-minority state and Alameda County is home to persons of diverse racial, ethnic and national backgrounds, including many immigrants.

Approximately 31 percent of all county residents are foreign born, approximately 43 percent speak a language other than English at home, and approximately 55 percent of children in the county live in families with at least one foreign-born parent.

On Jan. 1, 2014, Assembly Bill 4, the TRUST Act, will become law. Gov. Jerry Brown signed this legislation into law that is intended to protect immigrants' due process and equal protections. Additionally, the act provides local law enforcement the control to protect Californians from those who truly pose a public safety threat.

The statement, "we are a nation of immigrants," gives us no guidance on what those limits should be. Two hundred thousand immigrants per year? Two million? Why not twenty million—since we’re a nation of immigrants? The slogan also doesn’t tell us, once we have decided on overall numbers, what the criterion of selection shall be among the people who want to come here. Do we choose on the basis of family ties to recent immigrants? Language? Income? Nationality? Race? Victim status? First come first served? Willingness to work for a lower wage than Americans work for? The "nation of immigrants" slogan cannot help us choose among these criteria because it doesn’t state any good that is to be achieved by immigration. It simply produces a blind emotional bias in favor of more immigration rather than less, making rational discussion of the issue impossible.

Somebody sent me this a few months back and this statement says everything I am thinking.. It is very suitable for this story.

The biggest threat is not drug cartels. It is the regular loser drunk driving illegals.

“Inaction”

I agree.

We must enforce existing laws and stop NOT enforcign existing laws. Deport people. Secure the border. Build the wall. Close the tunnels.

Treat foreigners sneaking into our country’s southern border to earn money to send back “home”, like Mexico treats foreigners who sneak into their country’s southern border.

What’s the big rush. Afraid THE FOREIGNERS REGIME is going down the tubes taking the socialist democrats with him. Last chance to pass the bill. Sorry, they are not immigrates, they are ILLEGAL IMMIGRATES. They need to go to the back of the line.

1.) Close the border.

2.) Wait 10 years.

George Orwell would be proud.

NO to the present proposals to open the borders wide and make past border jumpers legal, plus make them eligible for benefits paid for from taxes squeezed out of we working citizens. Tell your federal senators & representative “no” in calls and emails.

Every politician and rich business person who is in favor of so-called “immigration reform” must adopt an illegal immigrant family. These illegals must live with these politicians in their extravagant homes and the illegal immigrant kids must attend the same elite private schools the politicians’ kids attend. If they do this, they might have a little more credibility. However, these politicians and other wealthy people live in their gated communities with their private security guards and are not directly affected by their legislation. So, they have no credibility at all.

My feeling is that we need to resurrect the 1867-68 post Civil War Reconstruction Acts for California. That entails appointing a military governor for California with the necessary troops. Then you clean out the commies from all state offices, refuse California all federal representation in the US House and Senate and bar the state entry back into the Union until they agree to obey the US Constitution.

It worked once and can work again.

What is to guarantee laws passed will be enforced?

The only problem is the current, and former governments get to pick & choose what laws the care to enforce.

Deport the criminal immigrants now!!!
