It looks like they tried him on the one that was easy to prove, and sentenced him for the other stuff, too.

He got 95 years, and the girls didn't have to be dragged through court, subject to abusive criminal defense attorney cross examination, have the most intimate details of their shame become public record, be treated like freaks by the press and be grilled, diced, fricasseed and laid bare in a room full of strangers.

95 years.

I can live with that.

He won't.

Charging a criminal is an art form. (Notice how poorly it was done in the Zimmerman case where he was “overcharged” in an effort to force a prison deal.) The kiddy porn laws are very strong. Given laws where the event took place they may have represented a distraction at a lower penalty rate. The defense might have concentrated on that and tried to bargain with the jury. Perhaps something like, “Look, we’ll concede this crime if you’ll give us a walk on the other.” In this case, it appears the prosecutor won.
