ObamaCare’s Date with Destiny Approaches: Are we being set up for a bailout of insurance companies?

Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, who remains as determined as ever to substitute Obama administration talking points for the truth, gave it her best effort in yesterday’s session before a House Energy and Commerce subcommittee. It was an underwhelming performance at best. As key dates approach and more facts about the government overhaul of the health care system emerge, it is becoming apparent that the ObamaCare scheme is headed for structural disaster — and will take tens of millions of Americans with it.

All of the above, including anemic enrollment numbers for private insurance while Medicaid signups explode; premium price increases necessitated by unnecessary coverage; the undue burden places on providers and insurance companies to collect payments and subsidies, respectively; fraud; and the reality that millions of additional American will see policy cancellations, threaten complete chaos. Chaos that could lead to a massive taxpayer-funded bailout to keep insurance companies afloat, that is already built into the law. If it gets to the point where the federal government owns insurance companies, just like they owned GM, it will be ObamaCare for the masses and healthcare “memberships” for the privileged few.

In other words, Americans are going to have to experience every one of the unforeseen and “unintended” consequences of ObamaCare before they find out what’s really “in it.” The next date with destiny is January 1, when a substantial number of Americans will either be pleased they have coverage, or shocked to discover they don’t–even if they paid for it. That’s reality. And nothing said by Sebelius, any other member of the Obama administration, or any Democrat can change it.

Won’t be long before participation in 0bamacare is deemed MANDATORY. This could land ACA back at SCOTUS, but given Roberts is in the tank for 0bama, all hope is lost.

The pic [of utter devastation] with Obama saying "My work is done here" should have a little face of Roberts in the corner with the words "SCOTUS approved" or some such. Like a Good Housekeeping seal of approval.

Scott Gottlieb: This ‘Doc Fix’ Would Be Bad for Your Health

An attempt to alter Medicare may let Washington dictate how doctors treat patients.

Imagine if a provision in ObamaCare allowed Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to dictate directly to doctors which services they could and could not provide their patients—what individual tests they could conduct, which treatments they could offer, and medicines they could prescribe.

Americans would be outraged.

Yet some Republicans on Capitol Hill are about to help Democrats pass such a provision for Medicare patients. The Senate Finance Committee is set to vote on permanent “doc-fix” legislation Thursday that grants the federal government broad new authority to determine “applicable appropriate use criteria” for the full range of outpatient medical services delivered to seniors. Similar legislative language is included in bipartisan draft legislation that is being marked up Thursday in the HouseWays and Means Committee.

The bill is part of a larger effort to change the way Medicare pays doctors. Each year since 2002, Congress has passed temporary “doc-fix” legislation to cover billions of dollars of shortfalls in Medicare payments. The provisions in the bill apply to advanced radiology imaging tools like CT scans and MRIs. But language tucked into the legislation enables “the Secretary” of HHS to exert the same controls over the vast array of outpatient medical care for seniors.

You add substantial fuel to the fire of my point Sheana.

We are similar to you; $15,000 a year in premiums, $13,000 combined deductible as I read it thus far.... Unless we are deathly ill or something terrible happens to us insurance will never be out a dime... and this picture will be repeated over and over and over.

Low income will be low care unless the deductible is subsidized as well. They will reduce their consumption of health care.

NOBODY is bringing up any of this set of facts. Only the meidcare drones and unfortunate will actually get “free” health care. This is another crony capitalism payoff and transfer of money to drones.

We are all a long way from seeing the worst of this mess. It is a shop of horrors we could never dream or conceive of. What is more, it is all at the discretion of the administration as to what to make into laws since the congress illegally, my opinion, gave them the power to legislate.

I think there's a chance it will go back to the supreme court and they will say it isn't being applied as a tax....and that will be the basis for a second Medicare and another 3%-5% right out of your paycheck.

They'll call it Medistart.

The whole object is to get your money.

It's not about health, it's about wealth.

Could it be that the 1 trillion dollars of the bailout was simply the looting of the US treasury so Obama would receive,…..say 3 billion……not as shovel ready as we thought.

Could the designed failure of obamacare be another looting of the treasury so Obama could receive….say 4 billion dollars in an offshore account ( accounts)…..same for Solindra…GM….Crysler……and all of the other designed failures.

Is Obama just creating all of these predictable failures just be a way of Obama himself, stealing billions from the treasury. It happened in all of the other African countries. Why would obama think to act differently? Should some journalist, if any still exist, ask if he has off-shore accounts. Why has not the money been followed?

Nah………couldn't happen in America. Normalcy bias reigns.
