"...bill is also designed to eliminate the threat of another budget shutdown like the one this fall."... and avoid letting the press distract people with "stories" about "republican shut downs" and "party of no."
Quite accidentally, while offending his base and not moving towards fiscal stability - indeed moving away from it - Boehner got lucky and achieved a likely path to making the House majority larger and gaining a Senate majority.
It will be up to us to make sure that we get tea party people elected to enact appropriate reforms. If we don't achieve getting tea party people elected, then we only have ourselves to blame. Let's avoid that and just frickin' work like hell to get tea party people elected.
I'd really like to NOT get on here after midterms having to bitch about GOPe vs tea party. I want enough tea in the House and Senate to not have to fight - peace thru strength ya know. This bone-headed deal will help us do that - AS WILL the country's focus on 0bamacare and the economy.
Even that's not a good thing.
When Republicans don't fight on the budget you get two problems.
One, low info voters don't realize that there is a spending problem.
And two, voters who do think that there is a spending problem, can't tell the difference between a Republican and a Democrat.
It's time to change that losing strategy. Fight the Democrats on the budget, articulate the correct message, and let the press report what they want. Most people in the country don't trust the press anyway.
Any strategy short of that is giving the Democrats free rein to destroy the country. And that's exactly what has been happening.
