Catholic leader brands immigration policies 'inhumane'

The head of the Catholic Church in England and Wales labelled the Government’s immigration policies which prevent families from living together in Britain “inhumane”. Vincent Nicholas, the archbishop of Westminster, said rules which prevent foreign spouses of UK citizens moving here would blight the lives of thousands of British children. He called on the Government to rethink the legislation which came into force in 2012 which prevents people from outside the European Union settling in the UK with their British husband or wife unless they can show an annual income of at least £18,600. Writing in the Guardian, Nichols said: "Anyone truly concerned for the family as the building block of society, and realistic about the mobility of British people today, must see both the folly of this policy and how it is an affront to the status of British citizenship. “The government's intention with these new regulations is to cut the number of immigrants from outside the European Union."But in doing so, is it the government's intention to penalise British citizens? To undermine marriages and to split up families?

The Catholic Church seems think countries can take in millions of people.Saying if you have a family well the immigration laws are not suppose to apply to you. I did not see the church offering any of it's own money or services. It's easy to spend someone else's money.Sham marraiges what about those ? How is it the church knows that none of the husbands and wives wishing to move here would be claiming any benefits which undermined the Government’s argument that immigration must be limited to keep public spending in check ?

I agree, Mexico’s immigration policies are inhumane.

Nothing is preventing families from living together. Nothing is preventing anyone from returning to their families in their home countries.

The Catholic church is a transnational corporation....as such it could care less about national borders. National borders hurt its efforts to fill pews and get donations. Why do it’s top men in each country even take out citizenship?

On another level the Catholic leaders are spaced out and live in the ozone. They have a hyper idealized view of practical economic life because they are shielded from it because The Church provides all food and accommodations for them. They are totally disconnected from the harm that being flooded by illegal aliens does to average Americans and their families...many of whom are Catholic

At a time when more and more Catholics are turning away from the church, we see church leaders doing even more to alienate everyone but the parasites and takers.

They have come down on the side of people like Obama who promote slackerism, dependancy, envy and covetousness.

How do they expect the church to survive once they have driven off all of the productive people who can afford to support the church?

Just asking what does the church not say as a good will gesture,we are willing to do the following to show our commit and do our part to set an example for others to follow ?

Let them all move into the Vatican if they are so concerned.

How long will it take then for these overly concerned people to get the hint that having a majority of trouble makers in their midst isn’t a very good idea???

They live in pretty rarified air in the Vatican & the Catholic church compounds.

They have a different level of safety than the rest of us.

Telling me how I should deal with MY safety, when no one else is doing anything isn’t any of their business.
