US Officials To Meet With Syrian Extremist Rebels, Including Al Qaeda Forces
ZeroHedge ^ | 16 December, 2013 | Tyler Durden

As was reported several days ago, the latest embarrassment for US foreign policy in Syria took place when the US-backed commander of the Free Syrian Army was forced to flee the country to Qatar after "Islamist fighters ran the top Western-backed rebel commander out of his headquarters." In other words, the Islamic Front, which is a more palatable name for the six major groups among Syria's religious extremist rebels, or as some call them, Al Qaeda, is now the only entity "fighting" the regime of Assad (funded with Qatari and Saudi financial generosity), which as recently as September was a very theatrically sworn enemy of John Kerry. So what is an isolated America to do in a country in which ambitions for Qatari nat gas pipelines will almost certainly rear their heads as soon as the spring of 2014? Why engage directly with Al Qaeda, pardon, the Islamic Front of course. Because the enemy of my enemy, who obstinately refuses to throw Putin under the bus or allow a Qatari gas pipeline under their territory, is my friend.

The rest of the article contains a long quote from Reuters; that's why the excerpt only.

But this part needs to be high-lighted:

U.S. officials may meet commanders from Syria's Islamic Front this week, the State Department said, after the grouping took control of weapon depots belonging to the Western-backed opposition.

I guess twelve years is long enough to forget what happened 9/11.

To quote someone famous, “What now does it matter?”

This is scary. The Saudis complain that the United States is not doing enough to support the Islamic thugs and Obama quickly moves. Wonder if our “negotiator” will inquire about the nuns the “rebels” kidnapped.

No chance. At least two Americans languish in Iran and did the US negotiators ask about them?

America is lucky to have such smart leaders. They are so smart that they look really stupid to us normal people.

How this is not providing material support to a terrorist organization is beyond me. Its a violation of both international and US law.

How are we any morally different from Iran at this point? We have lost all credibility.

Did John Kerry ask Ira about the hostage?

No they will not ask about the nuns.

But they will send them more bullets.

US Officials To Meet With Syrian Extremist Rebels, Including Al Qaeda Forces (transcript):

US: "Hey you bunch of ragheads. You're f**king up bigtime! You were supposed to have gotten rid of Assad by now!"

Extremists: "What can we say? The whole "poison gas" thing fell through. Someone let it leak that we were the ones deploying the gas. Get it? Let it leak! Hey, that there's some funny stuff."

US: "Enough with the jokes. We're paying you dopes a bundle and have been for quite a while now. Stop your slacking."

Extremists: "Well, if you hadn't screwed up the Benghazi thing, we'd have all the weapons we need by now."

US: "We'll get you the weapons one way or another. Do you think you can teach this bunch of Lawrence of Arabia rejects how to point them the right way?"

Extremists: "Inshallah! Meanwhile, see if you can keep the media out of here. They may be stupid, but even a blind pig sniffs out a truffle every now and then. Aaaaiiiii! Did I say "pig"?!!"

A different extremist is brought in to replace the one who just had his throat cut.

US: "This is why we're getting nowhere."
