McDonald's (MCD -0.82%) has 10 million pounds of Mighty Wings it needs to sell soon.

The wings, which represent 20% of the chicken wings produced for a promotion, are in frozen storage, writes Julie Jargon at The Wall Street Journal.

McDonald's was "unable to sell enough," according to Jargon.

Earlier this year, CEO Don Thompson said that the chicken wings aren't the smash success it had hoped for.

Sell them at half price and they'll fly out the door.

double the price...make them WIC card eligible...and they'll still fly out the door..

They pumped them full of anti bloating agents during the cooking process, and sprayed them with real flavored Jalapeno coating...Some in the industry said the coating was applied to heavy and during the process, and it was absorbed into the chicken flavored meat.

I’ll bet they tried to sell them to Buffalo Wild Wings and the answer was “Hell no! They suck!”

Offer the wings for free when you run out of McNuggets.

Should cut down on mayhem...

At one point, they considered spraying them with tuna flavored sauce and selling them as fish sticks.

According to these prices it would be 1 for a dollar.

I can go to Hooters on 50 cent night and get Breasts as well.

•Price: In McDonald’s terms, Mighty Wings are a premium product. The wings come in packs of three for $3.69, five for $5.59, and 10 for $9.69. Thompson said the prices, which are similar to Buffalo Wild Wings (BWLD -2.93%), were “not the most competitive.”
•Appearance: The Mighty Wings looked too much like “McNuggets with bones,” writes Susan Berfield at Bloomberg Businessweek.

Tried once and didn’t do again, for the above reasons.

I have never tried these. I do not eat wings.
What McDonald’s sells look so unappetizing to me and it so expensive.
Even $1 a wing is too expensive for me to even try. Maybe 10-cents per wing would be low enough to entice me to try one?

Don’t wings turn to rubber after too many days in the deep freeze?
