Is A&E required to air any and all opinions?

No, but A&E isn’t being held responsible for not airing words from the GQ interview. They are also free to edit out parts of the family’s conversations; however, there must be limits, because when Phil brought up his displeasure with editing “Jesus” out of the prayers, they immediately started putting it back in. This tells me the responsibility goes both ways.

A & E owns the Duck Dynasty brand, but not the minds and personal beliefs of the people who are represented on the show. These are 2 separate things. To "punish" someone because of their beliefs, which were some of the reasons in the first place that A&E created DD (unless it was simply to ridicule them), is a contradiction. But they can go ahead and do as they are told to do and punish their star for his personal beliefs (that they knew about before the show was on the drawing board) because it's their show. Yes, DD belongs to A&E. However, the contradictions that are now evident abound and astound. Imagine if this persecution was because Phil were to espouse personal homosexual beliefs. Do you think the outcry from the left would be so loud? However, that double-standard is in effect throughout these actions.

Therefore, the lines are drawn. With this action A&E has doomed the best thing that has happened to it in years. I for one will be cancelling my cable subscription in the next 2 weeks in protest, with this being a prime reason. I choose to not support those that would punish someone for their personal beliefs, which in this case was a prerequisite tenant to this show to begin with. I am done with the hypocrisy being shown here, and I will protest with my wallet...
