To: Trapped Behind Enemy Lines
Actually, no you don't.

You have Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC). The only Eucharistic Ministers are priests and deacons.

My teeth clench when I hear or read such things. I am an EMHC myself, serving only because there is a need/Fr. has asked - I am borderline against them personally.

When I first started, they were referred to as 'special' instead of extraordinary. As if people couldn't understand (once it was explained) that priests and bishops are the Ordinary Ministers, and we laity who help out are extra-Ordinary.

Sorry I did not use the correct name. However, we do have men and women performing this task at the Cathedral where I attend Mass.
