I remember the bumper sticker when this fiasco started in So OR, “Save a Logger, Eat an Owl.” There were a lot of them and a lot of loggers, now there’s few of each.

That reminds me of a bumper sticker that I remember was popular in the 70s. The farmers in the Sacramento Valley were being pushed by some sort of stupid overregulation, and they put this on a bumper sticker:

BOYCOTT FARMERS. STOP EATING

They are still at it, even thought this article already points out that stopping logging didn’t help the spotted owls.’’

“Environmental groups want to stop a logging project in an Oregon national forest that the federal government says is needed to reduce fire risk.

The complaint alleges the logging project will harm the northern spotted owl, which is listed as threatened, as well as the wolverine and Oregon spotted frog, which are proposed for protection under the federal Endangered Species Act. “

I have this vision that pretty soon it will be OK to eradicate people to save spotted owls or some frog somewhere.
