Why Duck Dynasty Threatens The Left

Let's fact it....most tv and movie scriptwriters are of the leftist persuasion and of course have more than the normal pct. of homosexuals working for them. What they they write and create is not going to be sympathetic to regular, conservative Americans. Which is one reason I never saw the movie "American Beauty." A friend described the plot to me including the part where the Kevin Spacey character is killed by a bigoted retired Marine who is secretly a homosexual. In short, the wet dream plot of every leftist scriptwriter.

Which is one reason I guess shows like Duck Dynasty (which, like DeGrassi High, I've never seen) appeal to many Americans. But unlike DeGrassi High, they see normal Americans without the Hollyweird lib bias affecting the show. It would be interesting to know how many Dems watch DD...before and after the latest flap.

You mean like casting a she-man like Tom Cruise in the role Jack Reacher? ...there is a movie I won’t pay to see.

I know what you mean. TC wormed his way into the role by becoming Executive Producer. I figured it was not worth seeing because JR is a big tall guy and TC is...well...not. But my wife borrowed the Blu-Ray from our county library recently and it was better than expected. The Tom Cruise element is downplayed and the quiet intellect of JR is forefront. So, we didn't pay to see JR either. Except for our county taxes.

"pop culture"

Not only pop culture, but all culture has come to a dead end. I know I'm just an old fogey and a complete philistine in certain artistic areas, but it seems all cultural progression stopped many decades ago. A certain musician (not artist) will turn out an acceptable pop song every now and then, and maybe an actual artist will paint something worthwhile.

But for the most part nothing considered great by classical standards has been turned out in the last 50 years. For instance, with all the billions of people in the world, why aren't there any modern Bachs, Beethovens, or Rembrandts? Everything modern is crap.

I had to look up what “Jack Reacher” was about, but you’re right. Cruise does not project a Clark Gable/Lee Marvin/Steve McQueen type of masculinity.
