To: Extremely Extreme Extremist

Its still cheaper than most countries.

In fact we would be better off if the USPS could raise their rates according to need rather than having to go through congress. It would probably be closer to a buck but the postal service would be in better shape.

I say abolish the USPS and let UPS or Fed Ex cannibalize its carcass.

I only send one letter a month. It contains the only check I have to write each month. That is to my gardener.

I used to send 15 to 20 checks and letters. So I am saving!

You are forgetting something very important: The postal system is really part of the government even though they play like they are independent.

Free market forces are forbidden.

I’m not sure money is what is needed to put the postal service in better shape. A change in attitude for some of the employees is needed. There are some very angry, very unmotivated folks in the postal service.

Going to one dollar per single stamp in Canada and the elimination of door-to-door delivery within 5 years.

All mail will be delivered to community mail boxes somewhat rural routes.
