Our local fire department routinely operates radiation detection. Recently, they had the cops pull over a “hot” car that turned out to contain a guy coming home from a thyroid test. How difficult could it be have a basic level of detection in constant operation?

Cancer patients are warned not ride the subway etc when they are being treated with isotopes because will trigger the detectors.
But the multi Billion dollar, irreplaceable. National asset of one of our newest carriers has it’s rad gear in storage? So the fing Iranians don’t need a bomb, they just need to sail a freighter by upwind spewing cesium or polonium out of its engine smoke stack.
