OldTax-lady was going to take me to Rome this year, but it didn’t work out. Maybe in 2018, when she turns 80 ...

Yeah. Like that.
“Diplomatic language” like that makes me wonder when the suicide bombers are going to be dispatched to the Vatican. We’re dealing with a culture that kills girls who get raped by their Fathers because they’ve dishonored...their Fathers.

I agree. Nicolas was a Byzantine Greek and the Turks were settled in lands a thousand or more miles east during his lifetime. The Turkish government has no more ancestral claim to St. Nicholas’ remains than I do.

Possibly. This is Turkey we’re talking about, right? They’re not Taliban, yet.

In addition, when you consider how much the Greeks and Turks love each other, well....

I stopped it from being a disaster before he could handle the ham with his stinky hands.
I opened the plastic my self and put the ham in the pan and placed it in the oven.
I can't understand why some people even as a adult they still have a problem of people telling them to wash their hands for health reasons before handling food.
This person has a hissy fit every time you tell him to wash his hands before handling food.

Thanks DeaconBenjamin. Jolly Old Saint Nick has been dead for centuries, seems like a cold case, or in this example, a cold cut case.

It makes it a little difficult for us Kafirs to figure out: “Does he want me to do something, or does he want to kill me?”
The words are the same either way. It makes taking them seriously pretty tough. If everything is a life-or-death struggle, then nothing is a life-or-death struggle.

The Islamists want the bones so they can destroy them, as they do with other symbols of non-Islamic religions.

The Islamists want the bones so they can destroy them, as they do with other symbols of non-Islamic religions. And probably build a mosque on the ashes.
But I wonder how many Rome-bashing Protestants would applaud the destruction of those relics?

As a Rome ignoring protestant, I’d imagine that most protestants don’t really care at all about magical relics. But they’ll probably balk at the idea that the Turks are the rightful heirs to all of the history of Anatolia as well. Claiming relics from a religion your nation has repeatedly tried to expel/exterminate from your territory is a bit ballsy to say the least.
