This is our dog. When he was three. He is part Boarder Collie, part Aussie and perhaps something else. Great and beautiful dog. Would love another one, same mix and coloring. Have not had any luck finding one. Our boy is getting old and we would love a new pup for him to train. Any one know of people who breed or have such a beauty?

I doubt you will be able to find another just like yours. They all have their own personality.

The best dog I ever had was a mutt named “Old Richard”. He was born the same year I was (1947), and he was an amazing dog. An absolute joy to hunt with. He never lied.

I have had a lot of good dogs over the years, actually not a bad one in the bunch but never one who was even close to Old Richard.

Daddy always claimed Richard’s Mother, Fritzy was an even better dog than Richard but I don’t see how that is possible.

We have an Aussie. We will never get any other breed. They are awesome. Where are you located so you can find one nearby?

Samoyed mixed rescue dogs are the best and all I will ever own.
They are so very smart. much like Border Collies.

Many animal shelters are connected. If you are looking for a particular age and type, you might contact a local shelter. If they do not have what you are looking for, they may be able to contact other shelters for possible ‘adoptees’.

I would check with an aussie or border collie rescue group. Sometimes they have info on mixes.

I have had a Border Collie and right now have 2 Aussies.

Great dogs.

My brother had an Aussie/Blue Healer mix and was also a great dog.

Good luck.

There are many Aussie Rescue places out there.

I would check Australian Shepard and Collie rescue groups in your area. There might be a pup near by that needs a home.

It can be a mistake to try to replicate a beloved older dog. They all have personalities and quirks above and beyond breed traits. Even if you were to find an apparent clone from outward appearance, there's no guarantee that the particular drives and behaviors would be the same.

That said, if you like the combination of traits from known breeds, you can start with people who raise those breeds and ask if they're aware of any litters that are an accidental or even deliberate cross. Check the adoption sites, put out word to the no-kill shelters and even the pounds as far as what you're looking for. You'll eventually find it.

Mixed breed dogs are hard to find matches for. We have a Border Collie, St Bernard mix and don’t hope to find another like her. We also have a Belgian Sheepdog and a Tri Colored Collie (rough coated) that are very smart dogs and we are very happy with them. Good luck in your search!

Go to Petfinder.com, type in your zip code and breed (if there is a particular breed you want), and you’ll find a list of dogs available in shelters and rescues near you.

Go to petfinder.org. Start with your zip and the prominent breed and you will find mixes far and wide starting with close to your location and then going states away. I knew I wanted a mix of one breed and probably another and found a puppy at a rescue about half an hour away. Sure enough, we love her and would take another of the same mix any day! Someone had come from Canada to get one of her sisters in the litter.

Hah!

He looks like a punk.

Great idea.

When my Grace started getting old we got her a little brother and she spent the next years training him how to do everything.

Good for you and your lil baby....

Red or blue heeler. The best, most loyal, long lived in good health breed of dog on the planet. But do not ever expect to exclude them from your activities. They will not leave your side. They try to manage your every move. They know what you are going to think ten minutes before you do.

We had a very similar dog - border collie /Australian cattle dog mix that we had to put down last year at age 14. Best dog we ever had. Incredibly smart and I don’t think as hyper as a pure BC. Our’s looked similar to yours but darker brown. His litter mates were black and white with one other brown and white.

After reading your description and my own experience I’m convinced this is a superior breed. Perhaps someone would be willing to breed them on purpose?

Hope you have some luck finding another one.

You probably won’t find another dog exactly like him, but a Sheltie would probably have the same general look and temperament.
