I am also 3rd generation, my grandparents came to California on wagon trains, met and married in "Hangtown" (Placerville). They must be rollin' over in their graves by what they see now.

Arizona residents can purchase any legal firearm and take it home with them. Same day, no waiting period. If it's a private party sale, no 4473 and no FFL transfer fee like CA.

If you are a CCW permit holder an FFL doesn't need to phone in the 4473 but you still have to fill out the stupid form. (Chops a lot of time off the purchase and with the right dealer can save you bucks if you're willing to negotiate.)

Then again, you don't really need to have a CCW permit to carry unless you want to carry in other states, in an establishment that serves alcohol or within 200 free of a school. Otherwise you're free to carry, open or concealed, without a "permit". Life is simple here and the crime rate is still low - except where the Federal Government arms the drug gangs.

Sorry for the confusion. I kept the old screen name when I moved. California is a great state with a lousy population and associated government. Time for all the good folks to bail.

I feel like a foreigner when I go back to visit.

I went back to Cali to visit the family in 2010. For the five days I was there, I felt like I was in some sort of hallucinogenic nightmare. I mean, the place creeped me out that bad.

My discomfort didn't stop until the wheels went up on the plane back home to Texas.

I live in NY, and the only article I have been able to find on Little Andy Cuomo’s SAFE Act registration is that they expect about only about a 10% compliance. There are NO official numbers that I can find. It’s almost like they are hiding the fact that the people are not complying with Little Andy’s edicts.

On a serious note I sure do miss where I lived in California. I grew up in South Lake Tahoe and lived in the Sierra Nevada foothills while going to college. I lived in Moss Landing, Ventura, Ojai. Lovely places. BUT, now, as a business owner, it would be pure business suicide to move back there. Everything under my pillow is illegal in the state. The state is going to go bankrupt. The politics are purely socialist to make the coastal overlords feel good about themselves. Now, the only time I go back, is on a layover out of SFO or LAX or visit family that hasn’t escaped.
