A Las Vegas cabbie who returned $300,000 left in his car has received a $10,000 reward from the poker player who lost the cash.

Before the gambler forgot his paper bag of cash in the cab's backseat, the poker player tipped the cabbie $5 on a $9.90 fare, Gamboa said.

The brown paper bag, with wads of $100 bills inside, was discovered when Gamboa picked up his next fare.

I still think it's bizarre - how do you "forget" $300K you are carrying around in a paper bag?

I can't honestly claim that I would *absolutely* return a big filled with $300K in it.

How do you get $300,000 into a paper bag? That must have been one big paper bag.

I think I would do it for my own safety. What if it were a drug dealer who would kill you over $300k.

As a kid in the 70's, I read a story in the paper about a guy who was coming home from a bar early in morning, somewhere in the Newark, NJ area, when he came across a large bag filled with cash lying in the road. The bag clearly indicated that it belonged to an armored car service. He took the bag home and called the company to report that he had found it. The cash, over $1.2 million, was old money that had been retired and was on its way to be destroyed. It had fallen out of the truck because someone had forgotten to lock the door.

The company was so grateful that they gave him a $1,500 reward. The writer who interviewed the guy could tell he was clearly disappointed with their reward, and said, in retrospect, that he wished he hadn't called them. The guy was unemployed, and had been for some time. The story ended by saying the guy's wife had left him. Sometimes it's better to just keep the cash.

A stack of 100 $100 bills ($10,000) is less than 1/2-inch thick. So, it'd be a little less than 15 inches tall (1/2-inch by 30 bundles to get 300,000).

Here's a quick visual. Also important when related to our current debt.

10,000 of honest money beats 300,000 of dishonest money.

God answers prayers.

Maybe the guy drove a cab for a living and prayed for financial help from the Almighty?

Nah, I just looked it up. I was trying to find the link that showed the multiple trillions (same images, but then another image showing about $14 trillion).

I found this. Depressing, really. http://beloitballistics.blogspot.com/2011/04/what-does-14-trillion-look-like.html
