Somalis have made Somalia a very pleasant place to live. Between the Muslim militias shooting at each other and the amateur hyena psychiatry sessions, it’s perfect. That’s why most Somalis are getting the hell out of there and moving to other countries that they can remake into Somalia.
There are Little Mogadishus all across America, but few places have been hit as hard by Somali Muslim migrants as Maine whose generous benefits system is struggling to cope with the Somali settlers.
Lewiston Mayor Robert E. MacDonald has written sharply about the Somali welfare invasion and its impact on Maine natives.
Today in Maine our legislators make sure that money is available for those who flock to Maine, many with their GPS programmed for Lewiston, to obtain the generous welfare benefits offered by our caring Legislature. But for 3,100 of our most needy, those who cannot survive without assisted living, the funding for home- or community-based care is not available.
Then we have the asylum seekers. They come from Europe, Asia, Africa, North or South America. They obtain visas to enter our country. They must declare why they are seeking entry (education, seasonal work, etc.), and further declare that they have a place to stay, money to cover their stay and a home to go back to. Once in our country, they suddenly declare that harm will come to them if they return to their country of origin.
An investigation into their claim is initiated by the federal government. This investigation takes many months to complete. In the meantime, housing, clothing, medication, food, utilities, etc. must be paid for, as they have no money. The federal and state government will not pick up their expenses.
How do they survive? On the forced funding by local taxpayers. But no funding is available for 3,100 of our most needy.
Now Maine governor Paul LePage is trying to shut down the Somali settlers’ free lunch.
Maine Gov. Paul LePage’s administration has proposed a rule that would prevent asylum seekers from getting cash assistance.
The Republican governor’s proposal for the General Assistance program would impact new immigrants who aren’t citizens and aren’t official refugees. The state says it doesn’t know how many people would be affected.
Critics say ending funding for the program will force communities to provide basic needs for asylum seekers through soup kitchens and emergency shelters.
It might, but if they do a bad enough job of it, the Somalis might get the message and search for their promised welfare land somewhere else.
But you can’t just stop feeding stray dogs or racoons. The moment you do that, the lawsuits begin.
A legal advocacy group has warned city and state officials that a proposed rule change at the Department of Health and Human Services could cut off benefits to members of Maine’s immigrant population.
Robin Merrill, a senior policy analyst with Maine Equal Justice Partners, met with members of the Portland City Council and the legislative delegation on Monday and talked about a proposed rule change that could cause some members of the immigrant community to lose general assistance.
“This would be devastating for Portland and for Lewiston,” Merrill said.
The Somali settlements in Maine are devastating for Lewiston and all of Maine.
Maine has gone from having no gang members a few years ago to having 4,000 of them. Mainahs have gone from thinking of gang members as something they saw on COPS to something they see when they look out the window.
Vacationland now hosts the True Somali Bloods and the True Sudanese Bloods who spill each other’s blood to find out who has the truest blood of them all. In Lewiston, Somali flash mobs attack natives. In Bangor, a Somali gang is at the heart of local crime.
Somalis are slowly turning Maine into Somalia.
Who is reloacting all these people ?
As far as I know, public assistance figures aren’t broken down by religion. When I lived in SW Montana in the late 80s locals were dying to confirm their suspicions that Church Universal and Triumphant members were getting welfare. Couldn’t be done.
There are a lot of Somalis in Seattle, and I have to admit being concerned, though I don’t like jumping to conclusions. If the women are wearing burkas, they aren’t Christian, right? A lot of people from African countries work in nursing homes, elder care, that type of thing. I don’t know which African countries, though. They certainly aren’t all layabouts. Also you never see women in burkas in Everett, only Seattle
Simple reason you see immigrants at airports—a lot drive cabs.
I think the Bushes are the main force behind the Somalis being here and teaching them how to game the welfare system.
They pride themselves on their ability as con artists and laugh about the gullibility of Americans. In Minnesota “Niceness” is the highest civic virtue and blinds a majority of natives to reality.
They are a verminous cancer, and should be treated like cancer.
Maine, just put them on a bus for San Francisco and tell them to look up a Mrs. Pelosi who will be glad to give them a generous handout. Tell them the weather is a lot nicer there in the winter, too.
I live in Maine; Bob MacDonald is one of my best friends. This article is a complete LIE. In the last election, Bob crushed his far left opponent and did it with a substantial majority of SOMALI VOTES! The Somalis claim a far smaller percentage of welfare benefits than their percentage of the population. MacDonald is talking about asylum seekers, not refugees. Asylum seekers, the vast, vast majority of whom are not Somalis (right now it’s Angolans)do show up here and immediately go on the dole. Maine is one of the few states which provide relief to asylum seekers. It’s going to stop.
As for the Somalis, well, as a group they have been model citizens. We almost never see them in court except for petty stuff. There have been some welfare crooks among them, but not many. Their kids graduate from High School at a higher rate than the American kids. In fact, they have raised the graduation rate at the high school almost 20 percent!
We are doing fine here. We are not turning into Somalia or any other sort of Mohamedan dog vomitstan. Our economy is growing. The last thing we appreciate is for some clown from away like Greenfield and his rag to defame us for his own cheap political agenda!

I’d imagine that as long as the 2 biggest markets (India and Red China) have over a billion people each we’ll stop importing people when we reach the same population.
In my area (northern NJ) they would gladly take these Somalis in just to keep the public school teachers employed and housing occupied (consequences be damned). We already have 3 billion illegal Hispanics and assorted Asians here in NJ.../s

It is worse than you think; the welfare rolls explode exponentially due to the de facto polygamy Muslims practice here in the US. A few years ago there was a house fire (I believe in the Bronx) in which assorted women and children died; it turned out that this 3-family home was rented by an African Muslim who kept a wife in each apartment (with their respective children).
A Lebanese Christian explained how this dynamic skewed Lebanon’s demographics so quickly (leading to the civil war in which the Muslims triumphed).

You don’t live in Lewiston and clearly don’t know the Mayor or the Somali immigrant situation here. There are no “gangs” devastating Lewiston. There were a group of punk kids, Somali and home growns, breaking into a few houses and some buildings at Bates stealing computers. They got caught. A few years back there were some junior high Somali kids who accosted 4 or 5 people in the park at night. The PD quickly “took care of the problem”.
Lewiston’s trouble comes from the fat white women who move here from the country towns for welfare, to act as mules for the American drug dealers from the south and west of us and breed their illegitimate spawn while handing us the bill. The Somalis don’t do that.
Oh, and no, as anyone who has dealt with me over the years on FR knows, I am most certainly NOT a social services contractor for any Mohammedans. Unlike the overwhelming majority of Freepers, my family lived under the heel of the Mohammedan Turks for 400 years. My bedtime stories were about the Turkokratia and the boogie man was a Turk! I know all about Georgie Bush’s ROP so it’s unlikely I’ll be fooled.

They are not, but Lewiston is a small place and Somali names are a dead give away! No Smith, Jones or Papastathopoulos in that community!
Many African women wear what appear to be burkhas, Ethiopians for example, who are very, very Christian, or Eritreans. I know, I go to church with them. Christian women throughout the East cover their heads.
