Didn’t someone post something about TEPCO having a meltdown in Japan? What is the latest on that?
From 12 / 22 2012:
This can’t be related to the Fukushima disaster because at the time of the event, the reactors were shut down and the Uranium-235 was no longer fissioning (which produces, among other elements, Iodine-131). I-131 has a half-life of only eight days when it decays to Iodine-129 which has a half-life of over a billion years. The event happened nearly three years ago. Iodine tablets are no protection against more dangerous fission products like Cesium-137 which has a half-life of 30 years.
