2013: The Year The Progressive Narrative Collided With Reality
Forbes ^ | Jan 2, 2014 | Bill Frezza

Two fundamental techniques undergird progressives’ success at narrative spinning. The first is skillful framing of the debate through investing heavily in public opinion making machinery.

The second is dodging all responsibility for failure. This is accomplished by blaming insufficient resources, the prior administration, the greedy 1 percent, sabotage by Republicans, or even the people’s obdurate failure to appreciate the progressive benefits conferred upon them. When the going gets tough, reality can be dismissed with a slogan. Forward!

Progressivism reached its pinnacle in the presidency of Barack Obama.

The author says to "get out of the way" and let the Dems destroy themselves, but considering how well they lie, I personally don't think that's the winning strategy.

It's a good article, but the Republicans need to keep pointing out the failures that are a direct result of Obama's and liberal policies and not let the Dems turn it around and blame everything on the Republicans, as they usually do.

The author says to "get out of the way" and let the Dems destroy themselves,

It took the Communists in Russia several generations and millions of deaths to destroy their viability. Then it was only because of R.R and the USA economic might. Cuba and other countries are still 'destroying themselves' along with the millions of lives within their borders. Is this what we should "Wait For"?

Thus framed, policies are judged only by their stated intentions, never their actual results.

The actual negative results are not widely reported, and if they are reported, the reason for the problems is always that Republicans are blocking the amount of "investment" and increased government control needed to get positive results.

I view the “get out of the way” idea as wrongheaded.

Once the left gets complete control....what do they do?

Crackdowns, pogroms on dissenters like Stalin did, Hitler, Mao, Castro, Pol Pot up to Mugabe today.

The will never let themselves implode, they will tighten the noose on everyone else, blame the dissenter even more, and an ever increasing tyranny ensues.

The left is to be opposed every millimeter of the way.

You’re absolutely correct. We’re already in the midst of the beginning of totalitarian control of the subjects/people of America.

I hear people say things are going to swing back to the right “like they always have.” I don’t see it happening...ever.

The Year The Progressive Narrative Collided With Reality

Not yet it hasn't. The Fed is still printing money.

Letting the Slave Party destroy the country presumes that they will relinquish power. They'll import a majority if they have to; they'll kill us in hospitals because they want to. Meanwhile, they control every means of public education. 'Let them fail' presumes the nation can recover from a police state without paying the price of blood.

“Once the left gets complete control....what do they do?”

They’ll over reach. They’ll push too far.
Then there will be a backlash

Not to be flippant about it; who's to say that that isn't the price that must be paid to set things right? The Founding Fathers understood that there may come a time when that is the only price that pay the piper, why can't we?

Because we are no longer isolated by oceans and there is a claque of global players that would love nothing more to pick the carcass clean.

Ummm, that's already happening. Certain sections of our population and ruling class are waiting on their tables with a smile and an open palm for a big tip.

Then there will be a backlash

And that is when the begin the round-ups of the dissenters, kulaks, and other "wreckers" of their utopia and march them off to the gulag or the death camps.
