My daughter showed this story to her coworkers. They got angry at the slant - they said it made it sound like they were turning patients away if they couldn't pay, which is never the case. They will always treat people - what happened is that when the people in this story learned that their visit to the ER wouldn't be free, they walked out.
She then told me a funny story which happend the other night: My daughter had broken one of her little toes. She treated it herself by taping it to the toe next to it, and went to work as usual. That same night, a lady came in to her ER, screaming in pain. Her emergency? A hang nail...
