The onus of this miscarriage of justice lay with the Orange County DA's office. I had my own experience with them ten years ago when my son returned home from college for Thanksgiving weekend. He joined up with a group of students who were also home for the weekend ,girls and guys, and went bar hopping in Hometown, NY, as is tradition for that homecoming weekend. A local malcontent ,college dropout, (same college) and HS rival traveled 20 miles at 3 AM with 2 friends and attacked my son. The instigator filed a police report the next day due to a very minor injury. My son had a significant injury. Off duty cops were drinking in the bar. Cops responded to the bar fight, bar was closed, crowd was dispersed. The Chief of Police, (former mayor's son)and his patrolman brother, acted on the complaint, called my house, several times demanding that my son “come to the station to tell his side”. Long story short, I hired a lawyer after the Chief threatened to come to my son's school and drag him out of class if he didn't turn himself in. It was his senior year. We negotiated a surrender for after the holidays and the legal system ran its’ course. He was charged with 2 felonies and several misdemeanors. He was the VICTIM of a gang assault. I still have statements from the complainants where they freely admitted conspiring, and driving 20 miles to target my son for this assault. My attempt to have charges filed on these three fell on deaf ears at the local PD and the OCDA’s office. The felonies were dropped to misdemeanors as the result of the plea bargain and the only shred of sanity shown during the episode came from the Judge. Probation instead of jail and restitution. All history now. Moral of story is bad things happen to good people. You can't trust any police or local LE to give you a fair shake. The first person who files a complaint with the police receives the justice, be it right or wrong. The DA's office cares only about statistics and stay out of the bars if you are a college student. This story had happy ending because as a parent, I had to act We are white middleclass. Minorities are grist for the DA's felony mill. Sorry for the rant. his guy is a victim of a heartless system. I am still pissed when I think about it.

You are totally correct. Who knows the truth? These cases are mostly about stories that move on the MSM 24/7 momentum and with a witch hunt mentality.

That is why I said it was probably an attack on Caucasian anglo males because they are the only group in the USA that has no standing or protection and is politically always cast as the perpetual racist. If this group had standing or an organization as do others the media would claim it is racist.

I understand that no ethnic group is lily pure. But I somewhat resent being a long term American that is now forced to ride in the back of the bus, and those who ask why are made to feel they are racists by the MSM and PTB.

Thanks. I was wrong. It’s because our society has been conditioned by the media to claim a white Caucasian gentile male has little credibility, and everyone else who comes along has much more.

The fact is everyone of any race, gender, color, ethnic or religious back ground should automatically have the same credibility and believability, and no one should should ever get a leg up. That’s the problem with protected classes.

From the post right above yours, Drummie: >>> “You can’t trust any police or local LE to give you a fair shake. The first person who files a complaint with the police receives the justice, be it right or wrong. The DA’s office cares only about statistics...”

(Thankya for the ping - took me a while but at last I made my way here.)

Anyway - couldn’t have said it better than above. Get your story in first. And in the case of yours or Mr. Kelly’s defense against false allegations of a crime that never even happened? God help you. Because an indifferent, self-perpetuating system of notches on prosecutorial belts won’t.

It’s not about justice, I don’t care how much the system piggies squeal about being “officials of the court.”

I also feel for the alleged victim in the posted story, who was only 8 when her capitulation started the case against her father. A lot of the NY Mag commenters were harsh on her, despite her Mom’s admitted intimidation - not to mention that, as complete reading of the article confirms, she didn’t have the best example of integrity as embodied by her parents, especially the mother who apparently found it impossible to hold herself together in the kids’ presence.

What a disaster.
