British researchers are calling for more intervention by governments in the fight against obesity, with a new study showing the problem is spreading further across the globe.
The obesity report is calling for greater government intervention and co-operation, saying "politicians need to be less shy about trying to influence what food ends up on our plates".
But government regulation proposals, such as the proposition to place a surcharge on unhealthy foods known as the 'fat tax', remain deeply unpopular with many people.

What do you suppose the Secretary of Obesity, Michelle Obama, Obama’s new “Fat Czar”, is going to do? Order troops at the entrance of every McDonald’s?
They’re going to find a way to start taxing our food one way or another.
People the world over are emulating Michelle.
Government intervention is what caused the obesity situation.
Why tax food?
Want food to cost more? Stop subsidizing it.
Want people to be thinner? Stop giving them food stamps.
The fattest people as a class are the “poor”. Maybe we should stop paying the poor to eat and sit around doing nothing.
Fat is way down the priority list of british flaws. Stupid or suicidal might be up there.

Since Big Government must control everything to bring about Utopian perfection, it looks under every rock to find something that it can fix. Obesity has been with mankind since the Garden of Eden. So has sex. Big Government will waste taxpayers’ money in the money pit of obesity.
Wrong.
The issue is how much food ends up in your tummy.
There are numerous studies that show that people who maintain a BMI between 20-25, regardless of diet, are just as healthy and live just as long as people who have the same BMI but eat a “perfect” diet.
Also important, all the people in the 20-25 BMI group have a lower rate of smoking, a higher rate of exercise, and are more likely to drink in moderation compared to groups with higher BMI’s.
Next they will be rounding people up to go work on the government farms and food processing plants.
Pontiac, I agree with you part of this obesity problem is the subsidizing of the poor into sinful slothfulness.
But, I promise you if they did as they should...cut or stop the subsidizing of the poor, it will be us who will be characterized as Naziesque. And that, my friend, the GOP-e can’t have.
So, instead they will tamper with the food supply. Neither side wants to be ‘like Hitler.’ This will range from shortages, taxes, and price increases. Other countries won’t be subtle and we will read of the starving masses in other countries and told to sacrifice as we watch shipments of our own food sent those who are starving, wondering if it was not just dumped into the sea.
One of the first things they need to control is the food supply. The more people they put on foodstamps, the more control they can exert over them when the time comes.
People don’t see it, as we’re being overrun with regulations, but recall last year there was the food quality act passed that regulated things down into the backyard garden. Don’t think there are implications here that will come to bear on those who grow their own food for family consumption? Want to share your bounty with a neighbor? There is a law against that now on the books. Gee, what will they say then? Like some of the 0bamacare regulations...oh we didn’t mean for it to be applied like that? And yet, there it is codified into some twisted legalese that some bureaucrat can come in a take over your backyard garden or destroy it. All in the name of government “charity” and/or food safety.
Recall the new Fed Chairperson wants inflation at 2.5-5%. There’s your tax right there too. It is just hidden from those not educated enough in basic economics to comprehend what is happening to them. Instead, the government will quell their concerns by raising minimum wage to a pay equality standard instead. What, that small business person can’t or won’t pay you $15 per hour...here come work on the government farm. They will never realize the work they do, hours logged, is nothing but the workhouse of their ignorance. FEMA camps for rounding people up? Watch people line-up to get into them for food, shelter, pay, healthcare. All the while thinking they are doing good for the world and making less than the current minimum wage.
It is all so brilliant a plan really. 47% of Americans and so millions more will happily surrender their freedom for this new styled government security.

Democrats never pass up on opportunity to tell us why enslavement by the state is for our own protection and our own safety, because life under the anarchy that conservatives want to impose is just too risky and dangerous. We can't have any of that inhumane"on-your-own economics" that conservatives advocate.

Though they crave government control over the food they eat, the truth is that researchers are narrowing down on the reasons for much obesity to the intestinal flora.
Basically three classes of microorganisms that are most influential.
The first class are bacteria that produce waste products that *cause* weight gain. It has been proven that if you consume just this waste, not the bacteria themselves, you will add on fat.
“At least 26 species of bacteria in the human gut microbiota, and the entire genus of *Enterobacter*, appear to be linked to obesity and related metabolic complications, with obese people having flora that instead of having 30-40 of dominant strains, only have a limited number that take up most of the space. As much as a third of the gut flora of morbidly obese people is Enterobacter.”
The second class of bacteria are those that actually *fight* obesity. Akkermansia muciniphila, and even the genus Bacteroides. The exact mechanism by which they do this is not yet established, but it is likely that they either inhibit digestion of food, over-digest it themselves which makes it less nutritious, or create or destroy enzymes related to digestion.
The third class look like bacteria, but are not. They are Archaea, as different from bacteria as we are. Archaea will consume things that bacteria will not, and even consume the waste gases of bacteria. Normally, these waste gases, typically carbon dioxide, inhibit the growth of digestive bacteria. But if the Archaea eat CO2, the bacteria can more fully digest our food, and make more nutrition available to us. And thus we gain weight.
The Archaea Methanobrevibacter smithii is about the only Archaea that lives in us and does this.

That is one thing you have to love about these Progressives (communist) they never give up on a stupid idea.

They already have surrendered their freedom. They just don’t know it yet. Right now all that is required is the majority of their votes. But they are enslaved none the less. They have surrendered their future to their Progressive masters. They will never improve themselves because to do so they would have to give up their government security blanket.
They are slaves to their fears of independence and so they have sold themselves in to the slavery of dependence on government.
