Phil Robertson's opinions on gays, black people and young men marrying girls as young as 15 years old have dominated the media over the past few weeks.
The controversy surrounding the "Duck Dynasty" star began during an interview with GQ magazine late last year in which he compared gay people to terrorists and claimed black people were "happy" and "singing" under racist Jim Crow laws.
According to The Huffington Post, an unearthed 2009 sermon (video below) from a sportsmen's ministry event in Georgia features Robertson advocating young men marrying girls at 16 and 15 years old because the young ladies will become gold diggers by the time they reach 20.
"They got to where they're getting hard to find, mainly because these boys are waiting til they get to be about 20 years old before they marry 'em, preached Robertson. Look, you wait til they get to be 20 years old the only picking thats going to take place is your pocket. You got to marry these girls when they are about 15 or 16. Theyll pick your ducks."

How does a Cajun say
Hold muh beer!
or
Hey ya’ll, watch this! ?
What if it is 40 year old men going after 18 year old women?
Good for him.
Le Grand Dérangement!
Wasn’t Mary — you know... the virgin — a teen?
Not always. I met my girl she was almost 15. I went in the Army at 17, returned from Vietnam at 18 when I was wounded and 11 days after her 16th birthday with her parents permission we were married. So technically 2 weeks before we married when I was 18 and she 15 I guess we can assume my guilt as an adult/child predator.
*we will observe our 46th anniversary this summer
Very true.
Thanks for the correction.
I lived in New Orleans for a time after getting out of the Army in 1968. I remember being in a bar in Westwego one time and I heard a guy say: "come here coon ass". I thought here goes a fight fer sure. They slapped each other on the back and called each other coon asses and proceeded to get drunk. No fight. That is how I learned coon ass was just what they call each other.
It's called LUST. LUST can turn into love. . . .
I was of course referring to Obama’s former, of all things, “safe school czar”, Kevin Jennings, as the one who had advocated and encouraged sex between a minor and an adult. He should have immediately reported it to law enforcement when he first became aware. Instead he encouraged and promoted it.
The middle-school dynamic currently on display is typical of the Left. They lost the main battle (Phil v. A&E/GLAAD) badly, so now they are sniping at Phil in all ways possible, including making things up out of whole cloth, to try to bring him down. This will continue until they succeed or until the end of time, whichever comes first.
Don’t the ragheads/camel jockeys advocate taking brides when the girl is 8 or 9 years old?
Why have you avoided West Virginia?
Ping for your intrest Megan Dear :)
Cajuns indeed are good people. “If they are your friend, you couldn’t ask for a better friend. If they are you enemy, Look Out. You couldn’t ask for a worst enemy.”....
Cajuns don’t have a monopoly on being good friends (or your enemy), a lot of “country folks” are like that, and that also includes me.
If you read or listen the ENTIRE Phil Robertson talk that night, you will understand he was being funny about this issue...It was more of a joke than anything....
If you read or listen the ENTIRE Phil Robertson talk that night,
Context is everything but often ignored.
Phil married his wife at 16... and he is correct. By 20, most young women have been indoctrinated into the evils of modern day America. Several states allow marriage at that young of an age but with parental consent.
A modestly expansive reading of what Phil Robertson says, within context of the interview, is that it is much better to marry young and keep “carnal knowledge” exclusively with your bethrothed within holy matrimony.
Marriage before sex.
You will both be happier and society will be better off.
Seems like sage advice from a successful 67 year old man.
Again, very different than the situation with Obama's former safe school czar. Hopefully the lefties from Huff Post are lurking here and get smacked in the face by this.
