Ah me. One of the shortcomings of my life is that I never learned to speak Cajun. Where I am from is kind of unusual even for South Louisiana, as there are Creoles, Cajuns, and a smattering of families from “Old Virginia” (as in Revolutionary War Virginia) all rubbing elbows.
But having spent many a Saturday night cavorting at ‘Cajun night spots, I’m sure they have both.
Yup. The term is "Proud Coon Ass". I have seen many a coffee mug showing the south end of a north-bound coon....tail high, with that phrase on it! I'm sure there must be people "somewhere" who can match 'Cajuns in knowing how to "pass a good time", but I've never seen or heard of any.
Haven't. Various travels just never took me through there. Same for Maine.
My usual situation was that I was driving from Louisiana to New York (near Albany) to visit relatives, and driving on Interstates. Have friends in Ohio, so the route was usually La to Ohio to New York. If I was in a hurry, and doing La to NY, it was usually via Knoxville. Neither route goes thru WV.
Oh I agree with you 100%... not even in the same category. Children are the most innocent amongst us and JESUS gave direct orders about not harming even one hair on their head or causing them to sin. If only we were still a moral society.
I need to check out this Duck show soon. I have seen a clip of Robertson speaking/preaching. For the most part, I thought he made a lot of sense.
Both adults.
Jim Crow = Democrat
In quite a few states 15 or 16 was the legal age to marry. Mostly in the south, no laws are broken to marry at 16. In many states sex with a 16 year old is statuarory rape. Depends on where you live...
That gal I knew was from NY, she got married at 15 in MD and the next yr got married again in NY (where 16 was legal with parents permission, this was the “big” wedding). MD was the big elopement state around here, I don’t know how young you could get married there without parent’s permission, but clearly it was younger that NY or NJ.
Got any links for that?
He was talking about marrying young, not marrying 30 years younger.
Tell me more.
Tell you more about what?
Kevin Jennings. I was reading posts to me, & read the one post before I read about Kevin Jennings.
I see. No problemo. :)
>> Sorry but that just doesn’t sit right with me
I share your sentiment.
Today, no person younger than 17 should be courted nor engaged by a person more than 1 year older. Generations ago where maturity was realized at an earlier age, perhaps 16 with the other by a couple of years. With respect to ancient times, I presume maturity/puberty occurred at an earlier age not inconsistent with lifespan.
At 17, a person is an adult. A person of 16 years or less is not.
Thank you! If I had to do it over again I would have been married at 16. Not every girl gives a crap about going to college and the feminists need to respect our CHOICE to live a more traditional lifestyle.
It is frightening how you cannot seem to understand that he was talking about young men and young women - not old men and young women.
Sorry - but I think you’re wrong in your understanding of what he actually said.
