Detectives arrested Matthew Sowders, 28, of Harris County Thursday night, hours after a diving team recovered the body of his estranged wife Melissa Sowders, 26, from Cypress Creek, which is behind Sowder's home.
Melissa Sowders had been missing since Dec. 26 when she was last seen with her husband at a McDonald's restaurant.
"You're here on a charge of capital murder, and I believe it involves the murder of two people, including an unborn child," a court official stated when Sowders appeared at a probable cause hearing today.

It’s a life worthy of protection only if the mother wants to keep it, apparently. How arbitrary is that?

Not just anybody can kill an unborn child. It takes a planned parenthood approved M.D. (or whomever else they designate)

What if she was on the way to the abortion clinic and was killed. . .thereby killing the unborn baby as well. . .in some states, the criminal would be prosecuted for two murders even though she was on the way to murder the baby herself.
There is no such thing as liberal logic, just insanity.
This has occurred to me too. I’ve heard of murders of pregnant women resulting in charges for killing the unborn baby also. But then, if the unborn baby is considered a human life, how then can we allow abortion? The laws and court rulings such as Roe Vs. Wade seem inconsistent regarding whether the unborn baby is actually a human life.
The creep filed for divorce from his wife in October but apparently did not want to end up paying alimony. Also, life insurance payouts & survivor benefits are also always a possibility in cases such as this.
As a “bonus”, he also gets some street cred by killing a white person.
Each baby (even twins) has a unique identifiable DNA from the moment of conception.
Harris county is in TX, the county that Houston is in.
