It depends on what the argument is.
I’ve found some success in arguing that the tea party will give liberals more of what they want than the Democrats. I remind them of all the democrat promises to end the cronyism and corporate welfare and then challenge them to show me what the democrats have done. I then remind them of the chamber of commerce attack on the tea party and explain that it’s because the chamber knows the tea party actually intends to end the cronyism and corporate welfare.
Regardless of their agreement with tea party ideas, they will always vote D. Liberalism of any degree really is a mental illness.
