McCain, Graham blast Obama for Al Qaeda-related takeover of Fallujah, call situation 'predictable'
Fox News.com ^ | January 4, 2013

Republican senators on Saturday blamed the Obama administration for Al Qaeda affiliates over-running parts of Iraq, including the city of Fallujah, which the United States secured before President Obama removed all U.S. forces from that country in 2011.

Sen. John McCain, Arizona, and Lindsey Graham, South Carolina, called the recent turn of events “as tragic as they were predictable” and suggested Obama misled Americans into believing that Iraqi leaders wanted U.S. forces out of their country.

“While many Iraqis are responsible for this strategic disaster, the administration cannot escape its share of the blame,” the senators said in a joint statement. “When President Obama withdrew all U.S. forces … over the objections of our military leaders and commanders on the ground, many of us predicted that the vacuum would be filled by America's enemies and would emerge as a threat to U.S. national security interests. Sadly, that reality is now clearer than ever.”

The Al Qaeda-affiliated fighters took over Fallujah on Friday after a bloody three-day battle, raising their flag over government buildings as a sign of victory, according to The Washington Post.

Predictable yes but it was just a matter of time anyway no matter who was in the White house. All we could ever do is keep dumping money into that hole.

Marie Harf is quoted in the article. I can only assume this is the same Marie Harf who recently claimed in the infamous NYT article that “ Al Queda” was not involved in Benghazi?

Why countries mistrust us and dislike us. Our inconsistent foreign policy. Our people died for nothing. And the increase of bombings in Baghdad is horrific. I feel worse for those people now than I did when our troops were there. How many of those we trained turned around and shot our troops? Bet very few, unlike Afghanistan.

I think Ovama's and Democrats' mislike strike hatred of all things Bush cloud their vision and cause them to make contrarian moves that are neiyher in our best interest nor the country we had hoped to, I guess, liberate, democratize, now they'd be more worried how they treat the LGBT or whatever it is. Never heard of any of those in Iraq.

The war in Japan wasn’t still simmering in Japan after a decade of “nation building”.

McQueeg and the Ballerina can go back in to that hole by themselves for all I care. We the people are too damn broke to waste more time with it.

This seems pretty weak.

This Dad of two Iraq war vets (one of whom spent a long time in Fallujah) remains hopeful for more focused statements from the the GOP (or any Dems with a conscience).

It is not "hatred of all things Bush" that drives Obama's feckless foreign policy.

It is support for radical Islamism. Observe which side Obama has supported in every Mid-East conflict. In Syria. In Egypt. In Libya. And, of course, in Palestine.

Japan could easily have gone communist if we hadn’t established a presence.

In the same way Iraq can easily go terrorist Al Queda and spill into Iran without our presence.

Bone headed Obama policy is getting us nowhere.

Neither McCain nor Graham has any credibility in criticizing Obama for this, as they could have used their media-accepted roles as ‘moderates’ to help bring down this socialist jerk, but they chose otherwise. Whenever either of them do something that is consistent with being a conservative, I start wondering what their angle is. I just don't trust either of them.

Are you brain damaged or something?

The mideast consists primarily of terrorists and no amount of taxpayer dollars is going to fix it.

The terrorists fight on their own dime (and ours). If its that important to you, go.

There you go with your odd views again...LOL I’m sure the “whole forum” is NOT very concerned about a debate on this one thread...the subject of which has been going on for years.

The Obama viewpoint is that if we leave the terrorists will be concerned only with each other and not harm us. Interesting how so many conservatives are lining up with Obama on this. Truth is the Al Queda factions live to destroy the West. Now why would you want those murderous forces to gain ascendency again when we had them pushed back? You are advocating for the Obama philosophy even though appeasement has failed time and time again.
