Mitt Romney Accepts MHP's Apology: We Hold No Ill Will Whatsoever
The Right Scoop ^ | 1/5/2014 | Caleb Howe

Mitt Romney appeared on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace this morning to discuss several topics, including the story that first broke on The Right Scoop, the segment on Melissa Harris-Perry's show last weekend featuring a Romney family photo.

ROMNEY: Well first let me just note, Chris, that we love this little guy a great deal. He was an answer to prayer and we love that he is a part of our family. He is part of our family. That being said, I recognize that people make mistakes and the folks at MSNBC made a big mistake, and they've apologized for it. and that's all can you ask for. I am going to mover on from that. I am sure they want to move on from it. Look, I've made plenty of mistakes myself. And they've apologized for this. And you know, I think we can go on from there.

WALLACE: Let me just ask if I can press a little bit on this, sir, you tend to speak from the head. I know Mrs. Romney tends to speak from the heart. I suspect she took this somewhat more personally. The idea that political discourse would include going after a little baby.

ROMNEY: Well, you know, I think people recognize and the folks at MSNBC who have apologized recognize, that people leak me are fair targets. If you get in the political game, you can expect incoming. But children, you know, that's beyond the line and I think they understand that and feel that as well. I think it's a heart felt apology. I think for that reason, we hold no ill will whatsoever.

It was a CHRISTMAS photo. Honest to God, I don’t understand why so many of you are STILL on the “ i hate romney” bandwagon.

I am very certain that this same group will spend the next two years telling everyone that if “x” is nominated, thet arent voting.

Flame away, i am disgusted reading the comments from so called conservatives.

Just empty words.

He might have won if he had convinced voters he really stood for anything.

“But I mean, what else could Romney say?”

***

He could have called her a mean, miserable, racist b**ch.

That’s the trouble with Republicans. They are too “classy” to respond firmly to such ignorant behavior.

absolutely....give him a lot of credit and for the so called “Christian” who want to bash him and claim he has ulterior motives, he turned the other cheek in a sense as Christ instructed...

Lord knows i would still be vindictive about it..the really sad part is for all his faults Romney would’ve been a very good president...granted Pol Pot would be an upgrade from the POS presently in office...

Putting his politics aside, Romney is on par with Ronald Reagan when it comes to being one of the most decent and classy guys in the political arena.

Romney is an admirable man, who has unfortunately become so successful he decided to run for office.

If Romney stayed in the private sector he would have all of our support.

Romney however took over the Republican party and prevented a run by someone who would indeed have been a brilliant president: Sarah Palin.

(that is just a theory, but I stand by it)

I supported Romney. But he’s no good politically. I do not support him now, and think he needs to remove himself from a high-visibility public view.

Nothing against the guy. But please just go away.

Sorry but that’s that.

That is Romney’s entire problem in a nutsehll.

He apparently is a great bsuinessman and excellent leader, but is unable to translate that to the political world.

In business world you dont have to think about opponents as enemies to be defeated. He just doesn;t get that.

In business, if you have a better product, you win. In politics that does nto work when the opponents spend 24/7 (with a compliant media) telling everyone how much your product sucks ass.

He could have at least light-heartedly said, of course we accept her apology, though her ‘unqualified’ apology did include a few qualifications

But I mean, what else could Romney say?

"I hope this episode helps illustrate how thousands of black babies are in need of good, loving homes, and whether the adopted family is black or white shouldn't matter.  And maybe the host of this program, who herself is from a bi-racial family, could recognize that need and perhaps find it in her heart to adopt a black child herself ."

Naaaa.

How about the GOP go to response training? Romney could have said something like “While I will accept her apology, there must be consequences, more than always just an “I’m sorry”, like Democrats and media always demand from Republicans”.

Liberals play this game of not answering questions by prosecuting first. More charges will be drawn by democrats. How can Romney forgive her when he never brought up a defence or counter charges against her, pretty much playing dead while moled by a shebear?

Agree with all you say. Romney is a business man and a good one as his history shows. Politics aside he was and remains exactly what this country needs.

It will never happen but I would love to have him hired on as an economic chief with full control of all the government tax policies and fiscal levers.

First job is to make sure every single American who has an income, even if they are on welfare, pays SOMETHING in taxes, even if it is 1% taken right off the top of their check. Nothing like having skin in the game to get people to sit up and take notice when the shi*heads in Congress start their crap about needing additional “investments”.

Juan Williams (not a conservative) got kicked off NPR for simply saying he gets nervous on a plane that has Muslims onboard.

In fact his boss at NPR never even talked to him before they fired him.

He indeed could have reiterated the story instead of doing the DrSpock scheme. Those who dragged her to answer questions are in the position of forgiving her, not him. He plaid dead. He basically is saying that he would not be contesting her.
