Baptist Preacher Arrested For Wife's Murder Jan. 5, 2014
By GILLIAN MOHNEY via GOOD MORNING AMERICA
A Baptist preacher has been arrested for his wife's murder after he attempted to board a plane to Germany.
Richard Shahan, of Homewood, Ala., was arrested on New Year's day after customs officials had been instructed to be on the look out for his passport. He was wanted out of Jefferson County, Ala. for homicide, according to an arrest affidavit.
"Once he got over to Germany or Russia, the chances of extraditing him are pretty nil," Homewood Police Chief Jim Roberson told reporters. "We can't get Snowden back, probably wouldn't get him back either."
Shahan was flying out of the Nashville airport when he was stopped by police. He will make his first court appearance at an extradition hearing on Tuesday.
"I think he was totally shocked when they pulled him out of line and detained him," said Roberson.
Shahan's wife Karan was found stabbed to death in their home on July 23. After the murder Shahan was taken into "investigative" custody for 48 hours and questioned by police but never charged.

. . . what is it with minister’s ? Read “The People of the Lie” by M. Scott Peck.
Guilty until proven innocent?
He’s been arrested. But he does have an alibi for the time of the murder. We need more facts.
Yikes, that guy’s eyes are scary!
I’ll give credit to the preacher until more proof is brought forward.
The murder occurred six months ago. He was briefly questioned and released, and was not charged further. It was public knowledge that he was going to Europe, but the authorities said nothing until they arrested him at the airport. They could have simply asked him to remain in the country, and he would have complied.
But the law’s conduct in this case—whether the police or the DA— really strikes me as pretty stinking. And there are evidently no charges yet, beyond the arrest for trying to leave the country—which he was never ordered not to do.
If only they forbid their ministers from marrying...
