"I don't know the coloring the word has in English but I don't use it in a negative way it's a word taken from the Letter to the Ephesians. It doesn't mean in any way being like a doormat for the husband. I use it in the etymological sense of being beneath or underneath providing the support like a column supports a roof because we as women we are stronger," explained Miriano.Excellent article. Loved it all; thank you. I have taped to the wall by my computer the readings of December 29, which include the bible verse about being submissive [subordinate]. I need to be constantly reminded of same. In the RC missalette, that verse is bracketed, whereby it can be left out if the priest wishes to do so. At the Mass we were at this year, it was left out. http://www.usccb.org/bible/readings/122913.cfm

It was included at our Mass.
And if a husband complains about his wife in front of the kids it is not good for the kids, especially since in a more traditional marriage the wife spends a lot more time having to guide and discipline them. If they disrespect her because of a husband’s disrespect also probably spoiled brats. Marriage should be a partnership with mutual respect.
