Candy Crowley: ‘Why Would I Become a Republican' If I'm Unemployed or on Minimum Wage?
News Busters ^ | 1-5-14 | Noel Shepard

On CNN’s State of the Union Sunday, host Candy Crowley asked a question of Gov. Scott Walker (R-Wisc.) that should offend people on both sides of the aisle.

“If I am an unemployed American…or if I am a minimum wage worker…why would I become a Republican?” (video at source with transcript and commentary):

Why Candy? (you progressive pill)

So you can get a job, support yourself and your family, and contribute to society instead of being a burden to it.

Jeesh!

Why would I be a Democrat unless I were devoid of all
principles and had the mindset of a serial killer?

here is the proper response:

Liberal line: Free stuff (until we run out)

Conservative line: stuff you have to work for (but we have plenty)

Here is what he answered:

GOVERNOR SCOTT WALKER (R-WISCONSIN): Because in the end, what people want is freedom and opportunity. You don’t get that through the mighty hand of the government. I think as a kid when I grew up in Sullivan, nobody I knew in my class said, “Someday, my goal is to grow up and become dependent on the government.” The same way for all the great people I have met who have immigrated from other countries – be it Mexico or India or Germany or anywhere else - all those folks I know who are successful small business owners don’t say to me that they came here because they wanted to become dependent on America.

No, the American dream is given a chance, given an opportunity, the great thing about this country, greater than just about any country in the world, is that you have an equal opportunity, but the outcome’s up to you. The problem is too many Americans right now don’t have that equal opportunity, and we should be making the case about how we’re going to make it easier to create a job, easier to get in the workforce, easier to get the skills that they need to fill those jobs. We’re not going to artificially raise things.

I’m not sure he couldn’t have made a better argument.

Didn’t she just admit Democrats buy votes?

Republicans and other variety of conservatives need to be ready to grab the opportunity to teach and inform. What Candy asked was not rude or disrespectful, although she probably said it with a hint of derision. Hopefully, Scott Brown was able to keep his cool, stay on point, stay positive, be clear and concise. Tell her what she has to gain by embracing our point of view. Don’t expect people like Candy to accept out positions when solely based on morality. That used to work a generation ago, but as we have seen since 2008, the morally grounded voter, who understands and appreciates this system of government is not now in the majority. At very least those who think as we say we do, are not showing it through massive amounts of voting. We have to work with who now populates and most legislates this land; i.e. the 47%.

Scott WALKER — not Scott Brown. Scott WAlker is the Governor of Wisconsin. Scott Brown is currently unemployed.

CROWLEY: You know, that's not an uncommon argument for many Republicans that I have heard in the past saying this is about empowering people, not about, you know, raising benefits and making them dependent, but it hasn't worked. What makes this expand the Republican Party, which desperately needs to bring in something other than what's really been a shrinking base in your party?

OK, Candy. As a “NEW” Republicrat, let's tax (confiscate) your entire income and redistribute it to the poorest 20% of the population. How many families does YOUR income support. It's obvious that CNN does not pay you enough because YOUR salary doesn't cover the “rights” of the bottom 20% of the population. You need a raise so it can all be confiscated and “redistributed”. So CNN increases your and all of their other employees salaries. But as time passes, CNN’s profits decrease and they go broke, you get layed off and you can now vote Dummycrat/Republicrat for the rest of your life. Do you get it now, you biased, stupid poor excuse of a "journalista"?

Walker, of course. We may be better off supporting Scott Walker anyway. Scotty Brown was certainly the Flavor of the Week for most of 2011, pre-Fauxcahontas. He was absolutely the Cat’s Meow. However, Brown may have advanced as far as his talent will take him, for now anyway. I was concerned at his tendency to kiss-up to Obama and the Dems. “Hey lets’ have a basketball game with Barack Obama, I’ll bring one of my available daughters!” Sort of an upper middle-class version of John, I mean Jon Huntsman. And we know how that brand of loyalty played out.

In other words the short-circuited Candy asks why would one be a Republican when the Democrats keep dishing out unemployment checks and EBT cards, plus giving a government-mandated raise when they have no skills? Who says there’s no such thing as a free lunch when Democrats are in charge?

Because the best way to jobs, good wages and buying power is the free market, not a redistribution economy run by Democrats. We need to get people off the plantation.

Hard to believe, but back in the 70s, when Candy was a news anchor for Mutual Radio, she was a babe. Since then, in the words of John Candy on SCTV, she “blowed up real good.”
