The United Nations on Sunday night criticized Israel’s policy towards illegal immigrants, as thousands of them protested in Tel Aviv, demanding that Israel recognize them as refugees and grant them asylum.
The UN’s High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCR) released a statement in which it accused Israel of “sowing fear and chaos” among the illegal aliens who, it said, should be referred to as “asylum seekers” and not “infiltrators”.
“We demand that the government examine the asylum requests of the foreigners, and stop the large-scale arrests in south Tel Aviv,” said the UN agency, adding that while it supported the holding facility for infiltrators in southern Israel, it was not acceptable in its present form as the agency deemed it to be a long-term detention center. …

Last I recall, A7 was an Israeli publication, and thus far I don’t think American Jews have contributed any new milk donors to the dairy industry over this issue. The majority of Israeli Jews do not support amnesty for illegal immigrants in the US, as far as I know; probably don’t have any opinion on it one way or the other, because they don’t really pay attention to American domestic issues, having so many pressing issues of their own.
Speaking as an Israeli and a one-time American, I can tell you that I totally oppose amnesty of illegal immigrants in the US, just as I oppose phony refugees and the UN High Council on Refugees sticking their nose into it while doing nothing whatever to help. I also totally oppose sloppy reasoning.
Unfortunately majority of American Jews vote Dem who strongly support illegal immigration. Many GOP Jews are the fore runners of pro illegal immigration. Their support is based on the emotional experience when nations shut Jews out during the Holocaust. Illegal immigration for economic reasons vs ethnic cleansing are two different matters. Unfortunately many American Jewish voters cannot distinguish the two. If Israeli want strong US support from GOP, vote GOP!!!! Otherwise like one old city Orthodox Jew taught me wisely, never support people who are against you, that is call political suicide. Simply put, if most American Jews hate conservatives, then conservatives will support Ron Paul concept of foreign policy, non-entanglement. The Arab Israeli conflict will is simply a real estate dispute and none of US business.
I agree that the Israeli/Arab dispute would be none of the US’ business, except that the Arabs are also gunning for the US—not because of US support for Israel, but because they want to rule the world and convert it to Islam. Israel is just the crocodile’s appetizer.
Vote Republican? I don’t vote in American elections altogether anymore, because I left (temporarily in Atlanta on a family matter; but going back home when it’s done). As for American Jews, they also want us to give up Judah and Samaria for the poor palis, just as they want amnesty for illegals in America. American Jews are incredibly smart for irrational people. But they are irrational, so who really gives a damn what they have to say about anything. Work on the young. The Orthodox vote Republican, and have lots of babies. Demographics and time are on the side of rationality when it comes to American Jews. In the mean time, work on the young.
Hell, not even that! How do Palestinians treat Palestinian refugees in Israel.
