I think someone here eluded to it, probably more than 1 did, but I think A&E is so oout of touch with reality that they produced the show, and continued to produce it thinking people were watching it is a curiousity thing. Like these people are freaks and most of us “normal” people find them humorous.
What they found out thru this was people are watching it because we identify with the Robertsons. God bless them!

These sort of programming and editing decisions are made in an environment more cloistered than a Carmelite nunnery, although the inhabitants don't recognize the fact. The people in it think people such as the ones in Duck Dynasty are freaks on the one hand, and on the other, consider themselves champions of diversity and paragons of toleration. It's a little different to bring this confusion into a coherent world view and so mostly, they don't try.
