ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Democratic and Republican critics of Maryland's troubled health exchange urged state officials on Monday to consider other options to signing up state residents for health care plans.

Rep. John Delaney, a Democrat, formally asked the state's health secretary for a specific assessment of the idea of switching to the federal health exchange while Maryland's exchange is being repaired. He wrote in a letter to Dr. Joshua Sharfstein that Maryland could make the switch in whole or in part or on a temporary basis.....

Not often discussed is the fact that unless you qualify for the “tax credit” subsidies you do NOT need the website. You can get an ACrapA approved plan directly from the insurance companies or a health insurance agent. There are more plans available directly from the companies than through the site.

On a related note, more & more small business plans are being dropped by insurance companies.

If any state can screw something up royally, it is Maryland, right up there with Californication and NewYuck.

I left it before it imploded. Got out with my sanity and wallet intact. Check out their “death taxes” if you want to croak.

Time for an audit of MD expenditures to implement. If Gansler, Attorney General of Maryland had any sense he'd be screaming for this now. It might rescue his bid for the governorship.
