Perhaps a rephrase is in order. That “polar vortex” existed but was relatively unused at a national level, compared to other terms. And this was done to make this winter event sound special and unique and caused by MMGW, to deceive the public.

In any event, as a sneering response to this new use, I still recommend calling it a “Polar Haboob”, making light of both it and the use of the word Haboob, which such people wanted to substitute for “dust storm”, despite considerable contempt by many of introducing an alien word for a common event.

The size of the rocks matter from the standpoint of making an accurate scientific measurement, but it isn’t important from the standpoint of showing the ignorant that unless SOMETHING ELSE is adding energy into the system, the entire solar system loses thermal energy to space with every passing second.

As such, permanent, man-made global warming is impossible, which means you look at temporary catastrophic global warming next and try to make an argument that man can ‘move the needle’ on CO2 in comparison to, say, a single volcanic eruption.
