Muhammad was sentenced to death for the 1974 murders of Sydney and Lillian Gans in Miami. Muhammad had previously worked for Gans at a paper bag company, and abducted him from a parking lot with a rifle, forcing Gans to drive home and get his wife before making them withdraw $50,000 from a bank. He shot the couple in the back of their heads and fled but was captured a short time later.

Exactly what in the hell would take 40 days, much less 40 years to execute this piece of garbage. No . . . seriously . . . the word “appeals” doesn’t wash . . . what the hell is going on nationwide with these scumbags? I just don’t get it.
You can get into and out of the Supreme Court in less than a year with appeals, so WTF happens after the dirtbag gets convicted? I’d really like to know.

I understand the mental condition he was talking about was being a muslim.

When conservatives are chairmen of the senate and house judiciary committees, they should make several changes, that are in no way unfair.
1) Declare states to be “competent authorities” to carry out capital punishment, so that their means of doing so are not open for nit-picking appeals. It is up to them to decide how they want to execute, using any traditional means.
2) More all death penalty appeals to the head of the federal docket, with limits on appeal delays to one month each for the defense, the prosecution, and at the discretion of the judge.
3) Judges should only be able to overturn death sentences if evidence exonerates, or there is evidence of gross negligence or malfeasance by the police or officers of the trial court. Otherwise, the federal judge should return a questionable conviction to the trial court for reconsideration, but without direction or recommendation.
4) Statements by judges opposing the death penalty are suitable grounds for recusal.
There are men on Death Row in California who have been there since 1979, and they are no closer to an execution date today than when they arrived there.
