Although the federal government is spending more than $22 billion to encourage hospitals and doctors to adopt electronic health records, it has failed to put safeguards in place ... The report, released on Wednesday by the Office of the Inspector General for the Health and Human Services Department, is the second in two months to warn about flaws in the oversight of the ambitious federal program aimed at converting patient records from paper to electronic.

The spirit was freedom and justice
And it’s keepers seem generous and kind
It’s leaders were supposed to serve the country
But now they won’t pay it no mind
‘Cause the people grew fat and got lazy
And now their vote is a meaningless joke
They babble about law and order
But it’s all just an echo of what they’ve been told
...
Our cities have turned into jungles
And corruption is stranglin’ the land
The police force is watching the people
And the people just can’t understand
We don’t know how to mind our own business
‘Cause the whole worlds got to be just like us
Now we are fighting a war over there
No matter who’s the winner
We can’t pay the cost
‘Cause there’s a monster on the loose
It’s got our heads into a noose
And it just sits there watching
America where are you now?
Don’t you care about your sons and daughters?
Don’t you know we need you now
We can’t fight alone against the monster
You think it’s bad now? Just wait! Having worked in healthcare IT, I can tell you that not only are the IT security teams working in these hospitals a joke, they’re actively covering up regular data breaches. MOST hospitals and hospital systems are non-profit, and the HR departments scale the pay grades accordingly. They do NOT attract the cream of the crop in IT, and in general, those who do IT security are less competent than the vendors hawking equipment to secure their networks.
My prediction is as follows: as more hospitals go to an electronic medical record (EMR), there will be a greater number of data breaches in hospitals around the country. Due to this increase, federal legislation will be draft to limit hospital liability due to the overwhelming number of data breaches causing fraud and identity theft across the country. Hospitals will no longer concern themselves with their liability and do less to secure your data in the system which will, on the surface, provide greater access to provider networks but under the surface will mean your life and livelihood is at risk every time you get sick.
Your information is already being shared with India via the dictation the Dr does to your chart. Over 95% of all medical dictation is sent to India over the internet to be transcribed and sent back. Do you know what they have done with your files?? Did you even know they had your files??
These were decent paying American jobs at one time.....
Ocare just is so safe and really is best for you. Trust me.
but they signed a Business Associates Agreement and cannot by contract do anything with anyones protected health information. Pinkie Swear.
unfortuantely our sons and daughter will not listen and are part of the ‘true believers’ of this cult society.
They get to them young because the need to ‘belong’ is so strong that they will believe anything from anyone so long as they are not left out. That is how drugs remain strong as well as the other scourges of our society. As we get older we recognize what is good and not so good. But some of us never grow up.
