I used to love going to Macy’s in the 1980s. It was a nice place. They were only in the northeast and California. Then they started expanding rapidly and lost whatever “class” they had. Today, Macy’s is little better than Sears. What a shame.

It’s sad to look back at all the department stores that have closed in the past 30 years. Does anyone remember B. Altman? Now THAT was a classy department store!

My mother was a big fan of B. Altman along with Best & Co. and Abraham and Strauss (A&S) and let’s not forget Gimbels and Ohrbachs.
