The National Broadcasting Co., which paid $775 million to cover the Sochi Olympics, insists it won't be used by Russian president Vladimir Putin when the 2014 Winter Games begin February 6.

Mark Lazarus, chairman of the NBC Sports Group, said the New York-based broadcasting giant won't shy away from reporting on human rights issues or threats of terror.

"We don't know what is going to happen in Sochi. We will cover anything that takes place during the Games," Lazarus told the USA Today newspaper.

Putin has championed these Games as a showcase for the modern post-Soviet face of the country.

But Russia has come under fire in the months leading up to the prestigious event -- often referred to a "Putin's Games" -- over human rights abuses, especially regarding anti-gay laws.

True.
They'll stand up to Putin just like they did the Chinese.

Being anti-homo is a human rights abuse? What's next, being a white male will be a human rights abuse?

Pretty sure it’s going to be like all the previous Olympics; 5 minutes of actual sports coverage, then break for 10 minutes of commercials, 5 minutes of some human interest drivel that nobody cares about, 10 more minutes of commercials, 5 minutes of updating the medal count, 10 minutes of commercials, then finally back to 5 minutes of coverage of the sport you actually wanted to see.

And you can bet it will be fag intensive.

They won’t have time for Putin. They will be spending their time praising the gays and the Muslims.

Putin should tell NBC he registered as a Democrat and they will polish his shoes with their tongues.
