San Bernardino Diocese to celebrate cultures, push for immigration reform at Mass in Rancho Cucamonga

San Bernardino Diocese to celebrate cultures, push for immigration reform at Mass in Rancho Cucamonga..RANCHO CUCAMONGA >> The region’s Catholics will gather Sunday at Sacred Heart Church, 12704 Foothill Blvd., to celebrate the contribution migrants have played as parishioners in the Diocese of San Bernardino.

The diocese, which covers San Bernardino and Riverside counties, will celebrate its eighth annual migration Mass at 12:30 p.m. at the church. The diocesan Mass concludes the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ observance of National Migration Week.

The diocese has been actively supporting comprehensive immigration reform. That issue, as well as human trafficking, will be addressed during the Migration Mass.

“Because migration and immigration law are so closely tied together, there’s always an element of that issue,” said diocese spokesman John Andrews. “Organizations and groups at the diocese that have been involved in the cause of immigration reform will be recognized at the Mass. There will be some discussion of the need for reform, and the church, on a national level, is kind of making another push with the new year, lobbying the House of Representatives to put together a comprehensive bill.”

Those in attendance will pray for God’s justice and mercy for the most poor and vulnerable, according to the diocese.

“Children, undocumented, refugees and victims of human trafficking often find themselves existing in a kind of figurative darkness where their options remain limited,” said Hilda Cruz, coordinator of the diocesan Justice for Immigrants Campaign.

Why isn't the Church praying for God’s justice and mercy for the most poor and vulnerable to the south of us ? Shifting the problems over here does not do anything to bring about changes in countries like Mexico.Immigration reform could pass today and everything to the south of us remains the same. How many more people does the church think we can actually take in ? Where is the church's statement about illegals paying cash money to human trafficking, drug cartel smugglers and than complains the smuggling arrangements did not go as planned. The illegals are paying the drug cartels money to continued criminal operations and do further damage to Mexico. The church says these countries are dangerous, however illegals paying cartels to attack their fellow citizens . Does the church not have a moral responsibility teach hiring dangerous drug cartels to smuggle them across the border is not something the Bible says is ok ?Maybe the church would like to hold a debate looking the over 1 million Americans unemployed in their eyes about how immigration stands to vastly improve their lives.

They will celebrate immigration by engaging in the traditional practices of molesting minors and getting DUI’s.

It’s against the catechism to promote destruction of the host country by promoting illegal immigration

How can we support the Church when it allows a diocese that chooses to do so work against the sovereignty of the US?

Another reason I do not participate in parish life. I go to Mass (not every week) but because the leftism of the church I have no desire to participate in a lot of things they promote.

The bishops behind this, who are backed by th USCCB are immigrants. The are not allowed to influence policy as a premise of their immigration status

Who’s going to take on that fight?
