House Republicans Preparing Plan for Immigration Overhaul By ASHLEY PARKERJAN.
January 8, 2014
WASHINGTON The House speaker, John A. Boehner, and his Republican leadership team are preparing to release their principles for an overhaul of the nations immigration laws later this month, the speaker told his members at a closed-door conference on Wednesday.
Though the standards or principles document, as Mr. Boehner of Ohio referred to the white paper in the meeting, has long been in the works, its imminent release reflects a broader push within the Republican conference to put forth its own proposals as a counterpoint to legislation in the Democratic-controlled Senate.
House Republicans hope to release their principles near the end of the month before President Obamas State of the Union address, as well as before their annual retreat. Republican aides had previously said that their leadership team was unlikely to make any strategic decisions on immigration before the retreat.
In June, the Senate passed a broad overhaul of the nations immigration laws including a path to citizenship for the 11 million immigrants already in the country illegally with bipartisan support. But the legislation has faced more hurdles in the Republican-controlled House, where some lawmakers are opposed to any form of legalization, which they call amnesty. House Republicans instead prefer a piecemeal approach, with several smaller bills instead of one large one.

Cut ‘em some slack. You can’t exactly bake principles overnight.
It is suicide for the GOP and what’s left of this nation.
It is suicide for the GOP and what’s left of this nation.
You need a former office-holder to tell you that you need to call your representative and senator? If so, we’re doomed.
I really don’t understand why they would hand Obama this victory. Do they really, really think anyone will give the Rs credit for this? And that those hypothetical people will outweigh the totally real people who will reject them for this?
File under: too stupid to live!
I only found out recently my mother-in-law during the Reagan amnesty actually got the amnesty but was not here to even earn that.
There was a national scam on our citizens where some businesses had people pay them $600 for letters and documentation to falsely show they were here to be given amnesty during Reagan administration. These are the same kinds of people getting welfare, disability and that are now in mass on our dole. We don't need to repeat bad history again.
Doomed, ain’t a state of mind, being or birth right. I need God, the rest follows. Take good care, 2ndDivisionVet.
The United States of America had a pretty good run.
Ain’t done yet.
Bush’s fault. ;-)
House Republicans hope to release their principles near the end of the month before President Obamas State of the Union address, as well as before their ((annual retreat)). Republican aides had previously said that their leadership team was unlikely to make any strategic decisions on immigration before the ((retreat)).
The word Retreat is a synonym for Republican. Annual Retreat nothing, Daily Retreat is more like it.
The cowards in the GOPe are determined to give Obama this great political victory when he has been falling in the polls, plus the Democrats will get millions of new voters. They will be committing political suicide.
In a letter to the White House, the group calls the legislation, already passed by the Senate, an awful deal for American workers and questions how Obama could champion higher wages for them while backing a law that allows millions of low-skilled workers into the U.S. labor force.
We write to you today on behalf of the 21 million Americans who cant find a full-time job, writes Alabama GOP Rep. Mo Brooks and 15 other largely conservative House members. Comprehensive immigration reform may be a good deal for big businesses that want to reduce labor costs. And it may be a good deal for progressive labor unions seeking new workers from abroad. But its an awful deal for U.S. workers.

AS FREEPER SICKOFLIBS INSIGHTFULLY POSTED: The House letter citing unemployment stats as a reason to NOT pass immigration is timed perfectly to Dems and Obamas agit-prop that "millions of unemployed Americans" are on the "brink of starvation and homelessness" unless those rascally Republicans give 'em UI extensions.

COMMENTS N-i-c-e timing--- the Pubbies are starting to "get it".....politics plays best when you hoist your opponents on their own petard.
<><> hands over a perpetual $100 million per year slush fund to blood-thirsty La Raza,
<><> absolves latinos holding US govt office who commit govt fraud,
<><> finances armies of invaders to take back the SW....w/ our tax dollars.
<><> allows illegals to steal SS nos and use multiple identiites with complete impunity,
<><> allows illegals to milk the EITC refund program with no limits.
==================================================================
LOCK-STEPPING DEMOCRAT PARTY LOYALTY NOT SEEN SINCE 1940'S ERA Europe Hooray---now we can add the Senate amnesty bill to lock-stepping Dems "straight party-line votes" (includes their historic party-line vote for the lovely Obamacare).
ANOTHER DEMOCRAT GIVEAWAY Now the ossified Demons want to force-feed America an immigration system that chauffers across the border foreign terrorists and mass murderers to suck-off the backs of we, the people, struggling hard-working citizenry already burdened with the costs of Boobamba's cockamamie Marxism.
THE DNC is lying in wait at the border w/ voter registration forms.....ready to register US govt parasites, welfare breeders, terrorists, mass murderers, and other mental defectives, strolling into the US---using multiple identities, falsified documents, and stolen SS nos.
================================================
MEMO TO BOOBAMBA
Struggling Americans WILL NOT be forced to finance our own destruction.
Do the Chamber of Commerce types who are pushing the Republicans for amnesty really think this will help them long-term? Sure, they will get more “legal” cheap, unskilled labor and this will drive down wages (driving down wages seems to be a dream of a certain type of Republican). But for every former illegal working there will be two or three on the welfare rolls. Virtually every new voter will vote for socialists who will nationalize or tax out of existence every business they can. Can people be so blinded by greed that it makes them too stupid to think more than one step ahead?
