A university students contentious request not to meet with female classmates on religious grounds has spilled into the political arena, attracting attention from federal Justice Minister Peter MacKay and sparking wider debate over religious accommodation.
A York University student made the request, and his professor, J. Paul Grayson, turned it down out of concern that it set a sexist precedent. The schools dean of arts quickly disagreed, ordering that the student be accommodated and arguing it would not seriously affect other students rights.

“I do not wish to be educated with negroes. Please accommodate me.”
I’d love to see what happens when a Muslim student refuses to be in the class of a flamboyantly gay professor.
There’s an interesting wrinkle here. Read all the way down. The kid was taking an online course. There could be many reasons, but quite possibly he was going this route precisely to avoid mingling. This particular course, however, required at least some meetings with a group from class, and that is how the issue arose.
Ahhh! The slippery slope of progressivism. The dilemma of how to offend NO ONE.
Canada gets the social structure it deserves, as a result of the government the voters elected.
Sadly, it appears the US is headed in the same direction.
strong religious beliefs or another fag opting for 15 minutes...
And then we have a Marxist judge in Germany who demands that the state be the one to educate the children against parents wishes else they become âsocial misfits.â Here we have a bigot refusing to be seen with someone of the opposite sex and where is the socialist outrage? Just more socialistic hypocrisy at work around the world. Certainly a constitutional right of parents to educate their children is more socially acceptable than someone who despises women.
I do not wish to be educated with negroes. Please accommodate me............
You be opening a big canna worms der mista!
Probably a muzzie. Faggies will go so far as to marry a “beard” to avoid coming out.
Muzzies are proud of their misogyny.
That is interesting, but this man is not going to be able to lead a normal life in Canada without at times interacting with females. I don’t know why Muslims can’t handle things that other people do. Orthodox Jews prohibit mixing between the sexes, yet I’ve dealt with plenty of Orthodox Jewish men, sometimes they won’t shake your hand, which is not a big deal. I would support having all male and all female schools but I honestly think a person needs to bear up for an hour or two of something they don’t like.
Drops the class. Not a tough situation.
Better still, drop the country. If you don’t like our ways, go back to your homeland and take whatever courses you want.
I assumed it was a muslim. I don’t think it’s a homosexual - they generally love hanging out with the girls, as friends. Plus, there are no religious grounds for a homosexual to not be in the presence of females.
And the left will not say a word about said misogyny...
The point of colleges is as much to educate regarding skills as book knowledge. A man who cannot interact professionally with females will do poorly in the workforce.
I demand to be placed in a class with a bunch of hunky firefighters. :-)
Agreed. I’m not endorsing his POV, just noting that he seems to have been looking for a workaround and didn’t do quite enough due diligence on the course requirements. What he will eventually do with his degree, I have no idea. He’ll not be working for any large corporations or for government.
