Ted Cruz blames economic inequality on President Obama
Washington Examiner ^ | January 10, 2014 | CHARLIE SPIERING

Posted on 01/10/2014 4:18:34 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

Ted Cruz mocked President Obama's new "Promise Zones" initiative on Thursday, challenging the president for failing to address economic equality.

"It's altogether fitting that President Obama is today talking about income inequality because income inequality has increased dramatically as a direct result of his economic policies," he said.

Cruz criticized Obama for proposing more government spending and debt without addressing taxes and regulations that were choking job growth, suggesting that he was running out of new ideas to stimulate the economy.

"All of America needs to be a real 'Promise Zone' -- with reduced barriers to small businesses creating private-sector jobs -- and we should start by repealing every word of Obamacare, building the Keystone pipeline, abolishing the IRS, and rolling back abusive regulations,” Cruz said.

Obama isn't exactly known for keeping his promises. Takes a lot of nerve to call these "Promise Zones." But it's in keeping with their socialist track record - 50 years of digging the poverty hole big enough to trap their base -- with room for more.

Byron York: What if you could restore veterans' pensions, fund jobless benefits, and stop illegal immigrant fraud, all at once? Democrats would block it. "Two of the most pressing concerns on Capitol Hill are 1) finding a way to restore cuts in veterans' pensions that were included in the budget deal brokered by Sen. Patty Murray and Rep. Paul Ryan; and 2) figuring out a plan to pay for extended emergency unemployment insurance for 1.3 million Americans whose benefits have run out.

They are vexing problems, but Republicans, led by Sen. Kelly Ayotte, came up with a proposal to solve them. The only difficulty was, the solution -- finding billions to pay for the restored pensions and unemployment insurance -- involved cracking down on a tax credit program in which illegal immigrants have fraudulently collected billions of dollars in improper payments. Stop the fraud, Ayotte argued, and then use the money saved to pay for pensions and unemployment insurance. It seemed like an elegant solution.

Except that Democrats would have none of it. Putting an end to the fraudulent collection of tax credits by illegal immigrants would hurt the most vulnerable, they argued. "This idea of going after children is one of the worst ideas I have ever heard," Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer said in floor debate Thursday. "I am shocked — I am shocked. You're going to hurt children. You're going to take away food out of their mouths."

Ayotte's plan was in the form of an amendment to the Democratic bill to extend unemployment insurance. Ayotte broke with most of her Republican colleagues by voting to go forward with the bill; she did so specifically for the purpose of proposing her amendment. But Majority Leader Harry Reid slammed the door on the amendment and would not allow it to be considered.

The Ayotte amendment was remarkably simple. It would have required anyone collecting benefits from a program known as the Additional Child Tax Credit to supply a Social Security number in order to collect the money. An information sheet released by Ayotte's office noted a report from the Treasury Department inspector general explaining fraud in the ACTC program:..................."

The American poor and destitute have let Obama down. They have accepted his doles and in the process degenerated into income inequality.

Basic inequality yields economic inequality.

Gotta love Ted Cruz for yelling about the economic elephant in the room that the regime-stream media is trying so desperately hard to ignore. Aka obama should be in prison or surrounded by cold earth for all the deliberate harm he has inflicted upon America.

Hopefully Ted Cruz will soon start loudly proclaiming that the identity-fraud-in-chief has no eligibility clothes as well. Go Ted.

Obama has a lot of company in his crimes.

It would be nice if Ted Cruz got more company for his solutions.

Let me guess - the “promise zones” just happen to be in Democrat controlled areas... and will receive $ Billions of government subsidies.

going after children

Ah, now cracking down on fraud by people who don’t belong here is going after children.

Why can’t our side re-define terms like that? Or at least counter the left when the do so? No, our boys just cower in the corner.

Amen to that! As far as I am concerned, from now until primaries are done, it's RINO season. No limit.

Because when you don't stand for something, you stand for nothing (and you get run over).

Others, besides Lee will jump on board only after they test the water and many will pounce on him like wacko birds. And they’ll regret it, those who are so far gone from defending the constitution they don’t know what it looks like when tgey see it

True enough - that is until a few of them are pealed off and we have their attention.

Have you read the book “This Town”? If not, I highly suggest it before we get any closer to any primaries.

I think they are paying attention. They are quite confused. Their loyalty to their donors is all whacked out by their power source, the voters, who are not supposed to have leaders and or representation. The GOP hates this more than the dems, who are illogical and they won’t see it coming.

“This Town” - They go to D.C. and stay — where they mingle and marry, becoming totally self-interested, living in the D.C. bubble. They’ve become the Big Government Borg completely detached and unfamiliar with the country at large.

The socialists never keep their promises because they CAN’T.

They maintain the radical utopian statist dream in their minds though.

No matter the evidence against its workability.

It might be that they don’t even care if it ever works.

It’s a dream and they like that part.

And it’s a vehicle to perpetual power, they hope and plan and scheme.

If only people would ever GET THAT, CW, once and for all.

It’s like someone going back and back to a well, for water, that didn’t just “go dry” at some point, but there was never any water there.

God said in the OT, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge”.

The easiest, and most obvious reason: Because that same rhetoric gives the GOP cover for not doing a damned thing about illegals/fraud as well.
