UK Mirror making the case for just how great it is not to have this sort of problem under Britain’s governmental care

They are right, in UK she would be eligible for the surgery for free. It would only take a year or two on the waiting list, and if she was still alive, and if the tumor had not metastasized, and if she had a competent surgeon and if the hospital wasn't a third world hellhole where infection and neglect ran rampant, then she would have a fighting chance.

As Churchill said on the eve of D-Day--"the terrible if's accumulate."

These comments almost makes me wish I did not open the article.

I understand, but there are still purely altruistic people in this world with no motive other than kindness and benevolence towards their fellow humans.

There are a lot of freepers who donate anonymously to Free Republic. It can be done with money orders. Also, I'm aware of freepers who have helped other freepers anonymously. One recipient mentioned to me, that they wished they knew who sent money for their utility bills so they could thank the sender(s).

Yeah I agree.

I am wondering though if perhaps the boss is tired and ready to sell out using proceeds not only to help out this young lady but maybe trying another venture perhaps retirement?

I have discovered late in life that many people give help without any thought of recompense. It is astounding that most do it anonymously and give the credit to Jesus.

You need to hang out with a better class of losers and learn what the real world is like.

““I have listed my restaurant for several years and recently turned down an (owner-financed)
offer for $1.3 million,” he said. “But now I want to auction it off at a reserve
price (or minimum bid — 50 percent of the actual value) and anything above that will go
to help Brittany.”

My reasoning is that he didn't have to wait to rescue a young damsel in distress to get what you imply he wants out of his employee only until after she got diagnosed with a tumor. If there was something he wanted, okay, if he wanted s-e-x, there, I've gone right out and spelled it, he could have gotten it simply by merely hinting what a nice, secure job she had and it would be a pity to have her looking for another one seeing how the economy is so very bad.

That's what employers do, that's how he would have approached it if s-e-x was so prevalent an urge for him....IF...he wanted to ahem, rescue a damsel in distress as you euphemistically are trying to convey.

So, now he's so desperate to rescue a damsel in distress he's going to sell his only source of income for some knight in shining armor/superhero mind game?

I think not.

I’ve been where you are at in thought and can only say that once I understood about unconditional love I was able to freely give and receive without having or worrying about ulterior motives.

Thanks for your empathy. I think he helped someone live, and that is wonderful. I still think he went too far, got carried away in the strong tides of emotion. The decision he made to almost completely divest himself of assets sounds like the thought process of a teenager, without a care for overall consequence. Now he is an injured party too.
